Eric Yarber is a former wide receiver coach at UCLA and the Los Angeles Rams. Known for his expertise in developing wide receivers, Yarber has worked with top-tier talent, helping players refine their skills and elevate their performance on the field. Throughout his coaching career, he’s gained a reputation for fostering discipline, accountability, and mental toughness in his athletes. His ability to connect with players and tailor his coaching strategies to each individual has made him a respected figure in the football community and one of the best coaches I have ever had!

As a former collegiate wide receiver and special teams captain, I understand firsthand the challenges and rewards that come with pursuing a career in sports. My experience guiding 30-40 athletes annually gives me the insight to help athletes not only excel on the field but also thrive off of it. I specialize in skill development, recruitment, and NIL strategies, ensuring that each athlete is equipped with the tools they need to succeed both in sports and in life. I help athletes improve their game by focusing on both physical skills and mental preparation. Through specialized WR/DB training, I refine essential skills like route running, catching, and defensive recognition. I also enhance speed and agility to give athletes a competitive edge on the field. In addition to skill development, I emphasize playbook mastery and defensive recognition to ensure athletes are mentally sharp and can execute with confidence. My approach focuses on building mental toughness, discipline, and leadership, preparing athletes for high-level competition. I provide tailored support to help athletes reach their full potential, both on the field and in their personal growth.
What does a typical training session look like?
Activation & Warm-Up (10-15 minutes) We kick off with a dynamic warm-up to prime the body, increasing flexibility and mobility with drills like light jogging, high knees, butt kicks, and arm circles. Explosive Movement & Agility (15-20 minutes) We focus on developing speed and quickness with drills that enhance footwork, acceleration, and burst sprints, such as ladder drills, cone drills, and short sprints. Position Mastery (20-30 minutes) WR Focus: We drill essential skills like route running, catching under pressure, tracking deep balls, and release techniques to beat defenders. DB Focus: We refine footwork, press coverage techniques, reading the QB, and maintaining tight coverage in various game situations. Game IQ & Defensive Recognition (10-15 minutes) We break down key plays from the playbook and work on reading defensive alignments and schemes. This helps athletes anticipate defensive movements and execute plays with confidence. Mental Toughness & Leadership (5-10 minutes) This section develops a winning mindset with mental toughness exercises, visualization techniques, and leadership discussions to build confidence and discipline. Recovery & Stretch (5-10 minutes) We finish with a recovery cool-down that includes static stretching and deep breathing to promote muscle relaxation and enhance recovery.
