About Me:

I am a highly accomplished hockey professional with a multifaceted career as a player, coach, and manager. Starting my journey in hockey at age three, my playing career includes junior hockey in Saskatchewan and Toronto, D1 scholarship collegiate hockey at The Ohio State University, and professional play in the ECHL and UHL, where I was an ECHL All-Star in 2004.

Transitioning to coaching, I have held positions such as Youth Hockey Coordinator at Great Park Ice, Ice Hockey Coach at OC Hockey Club, and hockey manager and coach for the Bay City Bombers. I successfully coached players of all ages and developed strong programs, including my tenure at Lakewood. My coaching career is marked by my ability to create positive team cultures, mentor athletes, and maintain excellent communication with parents.

My credentials include a USA Hockey Level 4 Coaching Certification and American Heart Association CPR & AED Certification. My extensive experience in hockey management, sales, and marketing further showcases my versatility and dedication to the sport. I am committed to fostering the growth and development of young athletes, making me a valuable asset in any hockey coaching role.

How I can help you improve your game:

As an experienced hockey coach, I can help you elevate your game by focusing on personalized skill development and strategic training. My approach combines deep knowledge of the sport, honed through years of playing and coaching at various levels, with a passion for mentorship. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced player, I will tailor our sessions to address your specific needs, emphasizing technique, game awareness, and mental toughness. With a proven track record of fostering growth and excellence in athletes of all ages, I am committed to helping you reach your full potential on the ice.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

A typical training session with me is designed to be comprehensive, engaging, and tailored to your specific needs. Here’s what you can expect:

1. **Warm-Up (10-15 minutes):** We start with dynamic stretches and skating drills to get your body ready and prevent injuries. This includes agility exercises and basic puck-handling to get you in the right mindset.

2. **Skill Development (20-30 minutes):** Focused drills on key areas such as shooting, passing, stickhandling, and skating techniques. We'll work on both your strengths and areas for improvement, using targeted exercises to enhance your proficiency and confidence.

3. **Game Situations (20-30 minutes):** Simulation of real-game scenarios to improve your decision-making, positioning, and teamwork. This includes small-area games, 1-on-1 battles, and situational drills that mimic in-game challenges.

4. **Conditioning (10-15 minutes):** High-intensity interval training to boost your endurance, speed, and overall fitness. This is crucial for maintaining peak performance throughout the game.

5. **Cool Down and Review (10 minutes):** A mix of light stretching and a review of the session. We'll discuss what went well, areas to focus on, and set goals for the next session. This ensures continuous improvement and keeps you motivated.

Every session is dynamic and adaptable, ensuring you get the most out of your training and steadily progress towards your goals.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.

Our coaches are open to helping athletes of any age and skill level. Please message your desired coach to ensure their skillset fits your needs.
