About Me:

I've been playing basketball since I was 3 years old and have dedicated my life to the game. My journey has taken me from elite travel basketball and varsity competition beginning in 6th grade to playing collegiate basketball at a high level. Throughout my career, I earned multiple All-American honors, MVP awards, and scored over 1,000 points by my sophomore year of high school.

Basketball has taught me discipline, leadership, resilience, and confidence lessons that I now pass on to the athletes I train. I currently operate my own basketball training business and work with players of all skill levels to help them improve both on and off the court.

Originally from North Carolina, I moved to San Diego on a one-way ticket to pursue new opportunities and continue growing as a coach and mentor. My passion is helping athletes reach their potential while building confidence, work ethic, and a love for the game.

How I can help you improve your game:

My goal is to help every athlete become a more skilled, confident, and intelligent basketball player. Whether you're just learning the fundamentals or looking to take your game to the next level, I create personalized training sessions designed around your goals.

I focus on ball handling, shooting mechanics, footwork, finishing, defense, basketball IQ, conditioning, and game-speed decision-making. I believe great players are built through consistent habits, attention to detail, and confidence in their abilities.

Beyond basketball skills, I help athletes develop mental toughness, leadership, discipline, and a strong work ethic. I don't just teach drills, I teach players how to apply those skills in real game situations so they can perform with confidence when it matters most.

My mission is simple: help you maximize your potential, believe in yourself, and become the best version of yourself both on and off the court.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

My training sessions are designed to be high-energy, challenging, and game-focused. Each session begins with a dynamic warm-up and ball-handling series to improve coordination, confidence, and control. From there, we focus on skill development tailored to the athlete's goals, including shooting, finishing, footwork, defense, and basketball IQ.

I emphasize game-speed reps and realistic game situations rather than stationary drills. Players learn how and when to use their skills, make better decisions, and build confidence under pressure. Every workout includes teaching moments, positive feedback, and accountability to help athletes grow both mentally and physically. My goal is for every player to leave the gym better than when they arrived and with a clear understanding of what they need to work on between sessions.

Career summary and accomplishments:

I have several years of experience working with youth in both athletic and educational settings. I currently coach and train young athletes through my own basketball training business while also working with students in school-based programs throughout San Diego County.

My experience includes coaching basketball, mentoring students, leading enrichment activities, conflict resolution, team building, and creating positive environments where young people can thrive. I am passionate about helping kids build confidence, develop leadership skills, improve communication, and learn the value of hard work. My approach combines mentorship, structure, encouragement, and accountability to help every child reach their full potential.

Best coach I ever had:

The best coach I've ever had was Coach Jeff. I've known him since I was 15 years old, and to this day we still stay in contact. What made Coach Jeff special wasn't just his basketball knowledge it was how much he genuinely cared about his players as people.

From day one, he believed in me, supported me, and always pushed me to become the best version of myself. He saw my work ethic early and constantly encouraged me to keep developing my game and building my craft. Even while I was playing for an elite travel team, he would always make sure I had opportunities to play on weekends because he wanted me to continue growing and competing.

One thing that has always stood out is that no matter how much time passes, he still checks in on me, calls me by my nickname, and continues to show the same love and support he did when I was a teenager. He never treated coaching as just wins and losses. He invested in relationships and made a lasting impact on the lives of his players.

Coach Jeff taught me the importance of believing in athletes, building genuine connections, and helping young people grow both on and off the court. Those are lessons I carry with me today as a coach and mentor.

What athletes and parents should know about me:

Athletes and parents should know that I genuinely care about the development of every player I work with. My goal is not only to help athletes improve their basketball skills but also to build confidence, discipline, leadership, and a strong work ethic that will benefit them in all areas of life.

As someone who has played basketball since age 3 and competed at the travel, varsity, and collegiate levels, I understand the dedication required to succeed. I bring that experience into every training session while creating a positive, encouraging, and challenging environment where athletes can grow.

I believe communication, consistency, and accountability are key to development. I will always push athletes to give their best effort while meeting them where they are in their journey. Every player develops at a different pace, and my job is to help them maximize their potential and build confidence along the way.

Parents can expect professionalism, reliability, and a coach who serves as a positive role model. My mission is to help athletes become better players, better teammates, and better young people both on and off the court.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

  • Good Fit Guarantee — If your first lesson isn't the right fit, we'll move your lesson credit to a new coach. No hassle.
