As a former Division I cross country and track athlete, I know what it takes to compete at a high level -- and I also know the mental battles that come with it. I’ve experienced race anxiety, self-doubt, and setbacks firsthand, and now I use those experiences to coach athletes not just physically, but mentally. My focus is on helping runners control what they can -- their effort, mindset, and preparation -- while rediscovering why they love their sport. I bring a direct yet supportive coaching style that empowers athletes to find their “fight” and perform with confidence, on and off the course.

Hi, I’m Alaina — a former Division I distance runner turned passionate coach. I grew up a multi-sport athlete, but running stole my heart early on. From leading my high school team to a state championship to competing at the collegiate level for Washington State University, running has shaped who I am both on and off the course.
My journey hasn’t always been smooth. I’ve battled race anxiety, self-doubt, and the pressures that come with high-level competition. Those challenges taught me the importance of mental strength, self-awareness, and balance — lessons I now bring to my coaching.
As a coach, I focus on developing athletes as both competitors and people. I encourage them to control what they can — their effort, mindset, and preparation — while finding joy in the process. My approach is direct, supportive, and rooted in empathy. I love helping athletes work through mental barriers, discover their inner “fight,” and perform with confidence.
Whether it’s a first-time runner or a state contender, my goal is to guide each athlete to reach their potential, one practice and one mindset shift at a time.
I help athletes strengthen both their physical and mental game. My coaching focuses on what you can control — effort, mindset, and preparation. Whether you’re struggling with race anxiety, confidence, or consistency, I’ll help you develop strategies to manage nerves and perform with focus.
As a former D1 distance runner, I know the ups and downs of competing at a high level. I bring real experience, honest feedback, and genuine support to every session. Together, we’ll work to build confidence, resilience, and the mental toughness it takes to perform your best when it matters most.
My goal is to help you rediscover your love for your sport, trust your training, and compete with purpose — because growth in competition starts with belief in yourself.
I mainly focus on remote sessions, targeting mental barriers, and other tips to help improve performance. These sessions might feel like mindset therapy, but I can also provide tips in training and fueling.
I ran cross country and track throughout high school, where I was a consistent top competitor and became a state champion my senior year. I was recruited to Washington State University, where I competed in both cross country and track. I placed 13th at NCAA Cross Country Regionals, qualified for the first rounds of NCAA Nationals in outdoor track, and—after dealing with a stress reaction—came back to qualify for NCAA first rounds again.
Laura Harmon (WSU)
I coached as an assistant for the Colville cross country team in the fall of 2025, and while coaching is still pretty new to me, I bring solid experience and knowledge in both training and nutrition. I’m not a certified coach or nutritionist, but I can offer guidance based on what I’ve learned and lived.
For our first session, I’d love to get to know you so I can better understand your goals and figure out the best strategies to support you. I value hard work—if you’re willing to put that in, I’ll meet you halfway and do everything I can to help you succeed.

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.
Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.
Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!
We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.
Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.
Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.
The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you find yourself needing to cancel or adjust your booking within 24 hours of your purchase, just let us know. We'll provide a refund - no questions asked. Your satisfaction is our top priority, and we're here to support your learning journey.
Our coaches are open to helping athletes of any age and skill level. Please message your desired coach to ensure their skillset fits your needs.
