Get to know Coach Aaron

About Me:

My name is Aaron Cooley, I'm a senior at Brown University majoring in Modern Culture and Media with a certificate in Entrepreneurship. As a four-year Division I basketball player, I've been a starter since my sophomore year and was selected team captain in my senior year. In my career i've done it all: competed at the highest level, hit game-winning shots, and dunked on a few people along the way. As 6'5" lefty, my game is focused on being a strong slasher to the basket; being the loudest and most versatile defender on the court; and being able to score the ball at all three levels. Despite my 'thin' frame, I skillfully use my length and agility to be an athlete that can guard and play multiple positions. Growing up in Roxbury, Massachusetts, I dedicated countless hours to honing my skills at local parks and community centers. My goal now is to inspire and mentor youth, helping them pursue their dreams one workout at a time. I strive to serve as a resource to the youth showing them that through dedication, belief, and perseverance you can make your dreams come true.

How I can help you improve your game:

I can help you by giving you the notes and gems i've learned in my four years of division one basketball. I know its a lot of kids dreams to go D1 and I just want to be a resource they can use to get closer to that dream. Not only just through skills and drills but through hardship, discipline, and accountability.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

A typical hour

Normally, I would advise the student to come in fully stretched and ready to go, but I'm also aware that in most situations, they would be getting out of the car, and their body will become stiff. Proper warm-ups and stretching are essential, especially if you want to last through an entire winter season, plus post post-season of basketball.

*INTENSITY OF WORKOUT VARIES ON STUDENT. EACH STUDENT LEARNS AND DEVELOPS DIFFERENTLY, HENCE EACH WORKOUT WILL BE TAILORED TO THEIR SPECIFIC NEEDS*

The 1-hour workout below with be a demo of how I would work myself out if I were a client:

10 minutes: Stretch, agility work to warm up (jump rope, agility ladder, defensive slides)

10 minutes: Finishes and soft touches around the rim

10 minutes: stationary to on-the-go ball handling, focusing on power and change of speed

20 minutes: Conditioning shooting: 4 level shooting: catch and shoot midrange, rip right midrange, rip left midrange, catch and shoot 3; star shooting

5 minutes: Beal shooting drill (try to make 10 from all 5 spots in five minutes)

3 minutes: Conditioning drill to end the workout (full-out sprint to full court and back for 3 minutes)

2 minutes 10 made Free-throws and Westbrook drill to sign out (5 dunks from each spot, must make them all in a row and last one must be an alley oops)

Your time is valuable, and the hour will go by fast.

Do not waste my time, and I will not waste yours.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.

Our coaches are open to helping athletes of any age and skill level. Please message your desired coach to ensure their skillset fits your needs.

AU was created by former collegiate and professional athletes. We understand the benefits of training with a private coach. It develops discipline, boosts confidence, and provides an undeniable advantage - whether you are just learning the game or looking to earn a college scholarship. All AU coaches are required to pass a thorough onboarding process and we proudly showcase a 10% acceptance rate, so you can trust you're training with the best.

At the end of the day, our mission is to provide athletes with better opportunities to succeed through coaching. You won't find a platform, and group of dedicated specialists, more excited to help you achieve your athletic goals!
