Athletic Background
Summary of Career and Accomplishments
My career consists of only playing at the high school level. However, my high school career was packed full of success. As a freshman I was starting on JV. Our season was tough playing against schools who were much higher in classification than us, but we ended the season with an undefeated JV record. That same year varsity went to state and won the first championship our school had seen in years. I did not get to ride along to the tournament but knew I had practiced well enough to help send them. My sophomore year was very similar. I was still playing on JV with a hard schedule. We only lost a few games that season, but after district I got the opportunity to move up and play on varsity for the remainder of the season. We went back to state that year, but the championship game was canceled due to COVID. Junior year I was playing on varsity with yet another hard schedule. That year we made it back the championship game which we lost in the final seconds. In my senior year the schedule was not as hard but still had difficult games. We made it to the playoffs and lost to the eventual state champions in the 2nd round. Throughout my career we only lost 2 district games. I was academic all-region junior year, and all-district senior year.
Who is the best coach you ever had and why?
The best coach I ever had was Casey Peirce at Slidell ISD. He helped me understand the sport of basketball better than I ever thought. His coaching methodology has helped every group of students who has played for him reach new heights.
What should athletes and parents know about you?
I care more about defense than offense and will center my practices around that. I will teach not only the sport but also lessons that can be applied to life after sports.
Coaching Background
Summary of Coaching Background
My coaching experience is short, but I have learned good ways to execute practice and help with player development. I have 5 months of experience working as an assistant coach at Era ISD.
How can you help someone improve their game?
My area of expertise while playing was shooting and playing under the rim. In those ways I can help players improve their game. I can run through fundamentals which are helpful in every level of the game. Doing so will also improve dribbling, passing, shot selection, rebounding, and defending.
What does a typical training session look like?
A typical training session would be broken up into different parts depending on what needs work and refreshing what has already been taught. Most sessions will include speed training, fundamentals training, and 1 on 1 playing to put it all into use at the end.
