Why Train With Me?

I bring years of experience in Baseball, Football and Wrestling! I grew up and spent my entire life around athletes at the professional level and have had the opportunity to perform in front of professional MLB scouts. I went on to play college football at the D3 level with the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. Was a member of the 2016 D3 National Championship Runner-up team, a 2x WIAC Conference Champion (2017, 2019) and was 2x Academic All-Conference (2018, 2019). I currently coach for Askren Wrestling Academy in Madison, WI. Where I coach young athletes from the ages of 5 up to graduating high school seniors, as well as some of our AWA alumni wrestling a the collegiate levels.

Who is the best coach you ever had and why?
The best coach I ever had was my high school wrestling coach, JD Lueders. Because he was always wanting the best out of his wrestlers and never let politics get in the way of always having a starting lineup of the best guys. Each Monday, he would have wrestle offs, giving everyone a fair shot at the starting spot for that week. The life lessons he taught through wrestling are the same lessons I carry with me today and what I teach my wrestlers each day!
What should athletes and parents know about you?
I can relate to what your athlete is experiencing and can relate, giving me the ability to help elevate their game to the next level, both mentally and physically. I bring a different aspect to how I coach, where I key in on the mental aspect of your athlete and train the whole body. Put an emphasis on the mental aspects just as much as the physical aspects. I have learned some of the best athletes in Baseball, Football and the sport of Wrestling to guide your athlete to long-term, sustained success and not simply just short-term success. My goal is prepare your athlete for the next step in their journey! Whether that is trying to make Varsity, raise a few MPH on their fastball, gain a few more pounds of muscle, or preparing your athlete for competing at the collegiate level and beyond.

Coaching Background

Summary of Coaching Background
- 2016-2018: Volunteer Varsity Baseball Coach (Clinton High School) - 2020-2021: Assistant Outside Linebackers Coach (University of Wisconsin Oshkosh) - 2023-present: Assistant Youth Coach (Askren Wrestling Academy)
How can you help someone improve their game?
I key in on the mental aspect of your athlete and train the whole body. Put an emphasis on the mental aspects just as much as the physical aspects of each sport. Providing training that will keep each athlete engaged and will build a solid foundation for their particular sport, thus allow me to build off of that foundation with more complex training as the athlete progresses.
What does a typical training session look like?
For a 60 minute session: (will be based on sport-specific training) - 8-10 minutes: Discuss previous training session, talk about areas of improvement, areas to keep improving, allow for critical thinking and encourage self-coaching - 8-10 minutes: dynamic warmup (sport specific) - 40 minutes: technique-based training (gradual progression) - 1-2 minutes(if time allows): recap and touch on points of emphasis
