“I drive an hour for my son to train with him. For him, this isn’t just another way to make money – it’s a way to stay involved with lacrosse while giving back his knowledge to the next generation. Highly recommend for private lacrosse lessons.”

Why We Created Athletes Untapped

Areas We Serve Across New Jersey:

Private Lacrosse Coaching in New Jersey for Youth and Club Players

Ask a lacrosse coach what holds most young New Jersey players back, and the answer is almost always the same: weak-hand stick skills. Players lean on their dominant hand until a defender takes it away, and suddenly they’re stuck. It’s the kind of gap a fast-moving team practice rarely has time to close, but it’s exactly what one-on-one training fixes. In a lacrosse hotbed like New Jersey — with deep club programs and powerhouse high schools across the northern and shore counties — Athletes Untapped connects families with private lacrosse coaches who develop one player’s game at a time.

Stick Skills, Cradling, and Ball Control for New Jersey Players

Everything in lacrosse flows from the stick, and it’s where our New Jersey coaches spend the most focused reps. Sessions drill cradling, catching and throwing on both hands, and the ball control that lets a player operate under pressure without losing possession. Because it’s one-on-one, athletes get hundreds of quality touches with immediate correction rather than waiting in line at a group drill. Building confident weak-hand skills alone can transform a predictable player into a genuine threat.

Dodging, Shooting, and Offensive Skills

Creating and finishing chances takes repeatable technique, and our coaches break those skills down individually. Attackers and midfielders work on dodging mechanics, changing speed and direction to beat a defender, and shooting with accuracy and pace from different spots on the field. Coaches also teach off-ball movement and feeding, so a player contributes to the offense even without the ball in their stick. Repetition with real feedback turns hesitation into instinctive, confident play.

Defense, Footwork, and Lacrosse IQ

Sound defense is built on footwork and positioning long before stick checks, and our New Jersey coaches develop both. Defenders learn approach angles, breakdown footwork, and how to use their body and stick to steer an attacker without over-committing. On both ends of the field, coaches teach reading the play, communication, and the situational awareness that separates smart players from athletic ones. As lacrosse IQ grows, a player makes the right decision before the ball even arrives.

Position-Specific Training: Attack, Midfield, Defense, and Goalie

Lacrosse rewards specialization, and our coaches tailor sessions to a player’s role. Attackers refine dodging and finishing, midfielders develop the two-way conditioning and transition skills their position demands, defenders sharpen footwork and takeaway checks, and goalies work on positioning, reaction saves, and directing the defense. Because training is individual, a New Jersey athlete gets high-repetition work at their actual position rather than a generic team drill. That position-specific polish is often what earns a starting spot at tryouts.

Preparing for Club Tryouts and the New Jersey High School Season

Club evaluations and high school tryouts move fast, and families frequently train with us in the weeks leading up to them. Our New Jersey coaches simulate game-speed situations and tryout pressure so a player walks onto the field ready rather than nervous. Focused sessions sharpen exactly what evaluators watch for — clean stick work, sharp dodges, sound defensive footwork. That preparation helps a New Jersey athlete stand out when roster spots are on the line.
