How Many Lessons Am I Supposed to Be Available for Each Week?

As an AU coach, we recommend being available for at least 5 hours or lessons per week. This is considered the minimum to ensure you’re creating opportunities for clients to book with you and can build a steady stream of clients. However, the more availability you offer, the more likely you are to attract clients and increase your earnings. While we understand that coaches have other commitments, aiming for more than the minimum hours can significantly enhance your success.

Flexibility as a 1099 Contractor

Being a 1099 contractor means there is no set schedule, and you have the flexibility to choose when and how much you want to work. This is one of the key benefits of the position, as it allows you to adapt your coaching schedule to fit around your personal and professional life. Even if you have a full-time job or other obligations, you can work around those and still coach effectively. Our founder, Gene, for example, used to work a 9-5 job and would coach clients early in the morning at 6 am, after work hours, and on weekends. This type of flexibility can make it easier to pursue coaching as a side job or a full-time career.

Balancing Your Coaching Hours with Other Responsibilities

While the role is flexible, it’s important to balance your coaching hours with your other responsibilities. Setting clear boundaries for when you’re available can help manage client expectations while allowing you to maintain work-life balance. It’s also important to consider how much time you can realistically dedicate to coaching without burning out. Start with a manageable number of hours, like 5 per week, and gradually increase your availability as you grow your client base.

Maximizing Your Hours for Success

If you’re looking to maximize your potential and attract more clients, increasing your availability beyond the 5-hour minimum can make a significant difference. Offering evening sessions or weekend availability, for example, can attract clients who may have daytime commitments. The more timeslots you offer, the more likely you are to fill your schedule with recurring clients.
