Yes – Athletes Untapped does provide insurance coverage for our coaches! We carry both professional and general liability insurance that covers coaches for services booked through our platform. This means you’re protected as long as your lessons are scheduled and paid for on Athletes Untapped.
Why Booking Through the Platform Matters
Our insurance only applies to coaching sessions booked and processed through Athletes Untapped. If you accept payments off-platform or conduct sessions outside the system, you’re not covered by our policy. This is one of the many reasons we require all client communication and scheduling to stay on-site — it protects both you and your clients.
Do You Still Need Your Own Insurance?
While we carry liability coverage for platform-booked sessions, we still recommend coaches explore personal insurance options for added peace of mind — especially if you coach outside of Athletes Untapped or in other capacities. Many of our coaches use USA Sports insurance, which offers solid plans across a wide range of sports. For example, here’s their coverage info for basketball coaches: USA Basketball Coach Insurance
Confirming for coaches: this is a 1099, not W2, position
Just to clarify — this is a 1099 independent contractor position, not a W-2 employee role. That means you won’t receive company benefits like health insurance, paid time off, or retirement plans. You’re also responsible for managing your own taxes and any required contributions. Athletes Untapped doesn’t handle employment-related taxes or provide workers’ comp, unemployment, or disability coverage beyond what’s described above.
