I will bring you to the college level playing lacrosse

Hi, my name is Drew Wagner, and I bring real collegiate lacrosse experience combined with a strong athletic background to help players develop their skills and elevate their game. As a multi-sport athlete with experience in football, basketball, soccer, and lacrosse, I understand the mechanics, strategy, and discipline needed to compete at a high level. My firsthand experience playing college lacrosse gives me insight into what it takes to succeed on the field—whether it's improving stick skills, game IQ, or conditioning. Beyond just the physical aspects, I emphasize mental toughness, teamwork, and leadership, which are crucial in taking your game to the next level. If you're serious about improving and reaching your full potential, I’m here to help you get there!

About Me:

School Record Goalie Saves at Bergen Technical High School - 399 accomplished in 2 years.

How I can help you improve your game:

Improving a lacrosse player, whether a goalie or field player, requires a structured approach tailored to their skill level, position, and individual needs. Here are some key ways to help a player develop:

Goalies: Focus on stance, hand speed, footwork, and positioning. Work on reaction drills, clearing mechanics, and communication.

Attackmen: Work on finishing skills, off-ball movement, and riding techniques.

Midfielders: Enhance transition play, two-way ability, and faceoff skills.

Defenders: Focus on body positioning, stick checks, and clearing under pressure.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

Typical High School Goalie Lesson (60–90 Minutes)

Warm-Up (15 min) – Dynamic stretching, hand-eye coordination drills (tennis ball reaction drills, wall ball), and footwork exercises (ladder drills, arc movements).

Fundamental Save Drills (20–30 min) – 5-point shooting drill (high, mid, low, off-stick, five-hole), stepping to the ball, and resetting quickly.

Arc & Angle Work (10–15 min) – Movement between key positions on the arc, mirror drills to adjust angles, and situational positioning.

Clearing & Passing (10–15 min) – Quick outlet passes under pressure, long clearing passes, and game-speed transition drills.

Game Simulation & Conditioning (15–20 min) – Rebound control, rapid-fire shots, fast-break situations, communication practice, and goalie-specific conditioning (short sprints, reaction-based footwork drills).

Career summary and accomplishments:

I have coached lacrosse players primarily as goalies across Bergen County and Rockland County, working with athletes at various skill levels. My experience extends beyond the crease, as I have also coached field positions, helping players develop their stick skills, defensive techniques, and overall lacrosse IQ. I have worked with athletes ranging from youth players learning the fundamentals to high school players refining their techniques for competitive play. Through individualized training, team practices, and game strategies, I have helped players build confidence, improve their skills, and elevate their performance on the field.

Best coach I ever had:

The best I had was Shelly Sheiner. He brings the experience from my decades of coaching at Kean University and currently at Dominican University New York.

What athletes and parents should know about me:

Experienced Goalie & Lacrosse Coach – I have coached lacrosse players, primarily goalies, across Bergen County and Rockland County, helping athletes from youth to high school levels improve their skills, confidence, and game IQ.

Position-Specific & Well-Rounded Coaching – While my specialty is goalie training, I have experience coaching field positions as well, ensuring that players develop a complete understanding of the game.

Focus on Fundamentals & Advanced Techniques – My coaching emphasizes proper stance, footwork, reaction time, communication, and clearing ability, with tailored drills that simulate game situations.

Personalized Training Approach – I adapt my coaching style to each player’s strengths, weaknesses, and goals, providing constructive feedback and a structured path for improvement.

Athlete Development On & Off the Field – Beyond skills, I focus on building mental toughness, leadership, and confidence, helping players perform at their best under pressure.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.
