Hi players/parents, my name is Quentin McCoy. I am an active collegiate basketball player at Arizona State University. Throughout my career thus far, I have had the privilege of being in gyms with some of the best coaches and trainers in the world. I have always been a sponge, picking up all that I can from wherever I can, and now, I am ready to pass what I have learned onto the next generation of young athletes. Training with me, players will learn what it means to 'work like a pro' from a physical, mental, and emotional standpoint. Being a player myself, I understand that every player needs different things to be successful, and because of that every training session a player has with me will be tailored to their game and their goals. I like to describe my philosophy as '1% Better Every Day'; consistently stacking days of progress. I am big on efficiency, so I am not here to waste players' time or keep them in the gym doing meaningless busy work. Every one of your sessions will leave you better at the game than you were the day before.

Hello, my name is Quentin McCoy. I am a 19 year old going into my sophomore season of college basketball player at Arizona State University. I was born and raised in Chicago, IL, and basketball is my passion. I discovered my love for basketball watching youtube on a library computer at the young age of nine. Basketball has taken me places and helped me build relationships that would have never been possible otherwise. In school, I was a 5.0/4.0 gpa student in high school, and thus far I am a 4.0/4.0 student in college. My biggest role models are my father, Joseph McCoy, and Kobe Bryant. Those two role models of mine instilled in me the value of hard work and grinding for whatever it is you want to achieve in life.
By training with me, your young athlete will build a quality foundation for their game and learn to build on that foundation in the most efficient and effective ways possible. My goal is for players to grow their skillset and basketball IQ through well rounded training. As a coach, it is hard to set specific goals for a player without meeting or talking to them first, but as a pretty versatile player myself, I have confidence that I can help your young athlete grow their game in whatever areas they are looking to target.
Sessions will typically be an hour long. Basketball training is just as much about efficiency as it is intensity. Because we are operating on a one hour window, I advise that athletes arrive 15-20 minutes early (which I will be present for) to stretch and get loose. The first 15-20 minutes of each workout will typically consist of fundamental ball handling and shooting drills that I will have all my players do, as building foundation is important. The next 30-35 minutes of the workout will be drills tailored specifically to your young athlete's game and goals. Whatever your athlete and I determine they need to be working on, I will have drills ready to efficiently and effectively build progress in those areas. The last 5-10 minutes of your young athletes workout will consist of conditioning, free throw shooting, and a debrief. Conditioning and shooting free throws through fatigue are important at all levels of basketball, but even more importantly, I want to give your young athlete a change to decompress and talk out what they learned and give me their assessment of their workout. Self assessment is an important key to success in basketball and in life, and will also help me to know what aspects of our sessions are most beneficial, and what aspects may need some adjustment.

My father. Playing for my father taught me a lot about what a coach should be; not just someone who is knowledgable regarding the game, but also a resource, a mentor, an advocate, and a protector of the young men or women they coach. While basketball is great, a great coach does more for you than make you a good basketball player. A great coach helps you to grow into a better person, bringing the best out of you.
I am a young man, and I engage with children as such. While I do want for the children I train to get better at the game of basketball, it is more important to me that they have fun doing so. I want for my players to love the game and love the process of doing what it takes to get better. The work we will put in will have serious results, but rarely will it feel strict, serious, or overbearing. I am not the 'drill Sargent' coach, I am a young person teaching what I know to people slightly younger and less experienced than myself.

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.
Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.
Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!
We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.
Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.
Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.
The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.
Our coaches are open to helping athletes of any age and skill level. Please message your desired coach to ensure their skillset fits your needs.
