About Me:

I have been dedicated to basketball from an early age, earning a varsity starting position all four years of high school, where I contributed to multiple conference championships. My passion and talent for the game led me to Louisburg College, where I played two years of JUCO basketball, helping my team secure a conference championship.

Beyond collegiate play, I had the honor of competing at an elite level as a member of the All-Marine Corps Basketball Team, which allowed me to represent both my country and my love for the game. This experience not only refined my skills but also instilled in me the discipline, leadership, and mental resilience that I now pass on to the athletes I train. My journey as a player and coach has shaped my approach to developing athletes both on and off the court, focusing on skill mastery, confidence, and mental toughness.

Through personalized training sessions, I refine fundamental and advanced basketball techniques, enhancing shooting, footwork, and game IQ. At the same time, I incorporate mental performance coaching to develop confidence, focus, and composure under pressure. By teaching strategies to manage performance anxiety, improve decision-making, and stay mentally engaged throughout competition, I ensure athletes can consistently perform at their best. My holistic approach bridges the gap between skill development and mindset mastery, helping players unlock their full potential on and off the court.

A typical training session is a dynamic blend of skill development, mental performance strategies, and game application. We start with a structured warm-up to activate the body and sharpen focus, incorporating mobility drills and mindfulness techniques to set the right mindset. The session then transitions into basketball-specific drills tailored to the athlete’s needs, focusing on shooting mechanics, basic ball-handling, footwork, and defensive positioning. Throughout the workout, I integrate mental performance coaching by reinforcing confidence-building techniques, visualization exercises, and strategies to stay composed under pressure. We conclude with game-scenario drills to apply newly developed skills in a competitive setting, followed by a brief reflection on progress and mindset takeaways. Every session is designed to push athletes physically and mentally, ensuring they leave more prepared to perform at their best.

I have extensive experience coaching and mentoring athletes of all ages, ranging from 6 to 17, in both competitive and recreational settings. My background includes working with youth through I-9 Basketball and the Mecklenburg County Rec Center, where I focused on skill development, teamwork, and game fundamentals. In addition to coaching youth athletes, I have provided one-on-one training for both adolescent and adult players, helping them refine their skills, improve their in-game decision-making, and build confidence under pressure. Beyond youth and recreational coaching, I have experience in performance coaching at the elite level, working with Olympic competitors, high school athletes, and recreational players to enhance their physical and mental performance. My coaching philosophy integrates technical skill development with mental resilience training, ensuring that athletes not only improve their abilities on the court but also develop the mental toughness needed to excel in high-pressure situations. Through individualized instruction and game-specific adjustments, I help players maximize their potential and translate their training into real-game success.

The best coach I ever had was Coach Marty at Louisburg College, who not only helped me refine my skills but also strengthened my mental approach to the game. He emphasized the importance of visualization and confidence in my shot, teaching me to focus on the small details—breathing, body adjustments, and mechanics—that made a big difference in my performance. His coaching style was built on positive reinforcement, always encouraging me to learn from my mistakes rather than dwell on them. Instead of simply correcting errors, he would ask, “What did you see?” to help me analyze and adjust for the next play. His ability to blend technical coaching with mental performance strategies made a lasting impact on my growth as both a player and a coach.

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.
