Hi! I'm Sadie, a passionate running enthusiast and coach. My love for running began as a child, inspired by running with my father. Competing in local track meets ignited my passion for running (especially running fast), a love that still drives me today. As a high school athlete, I was a six-time all-state runner in cross country and track & field, winning three state championship titles in the 400m and 800m distances. I continued my journey at the University of Utah, competing as a Division I athlete for five years. There, I learned invaluable training techniques and the importance of injury prevention and recovery. I graduated in 2019 with a degree in Kinesiology and a minor in Psychology. In recent years, I've discovered my passion for coaching and helping others achieve their running goals. I started coaching high school cross country and track & field in Virginia, where my athletes earned numerous all-state honors, three state championships, and multiple region titles. I now coach full-time at an NCAA Division II institution, where my athletes have broken almost every school record in the distance events (400m - 10K). I've worked with athletes of all experience levels, from beginners to lifelong runners, helping them develop their skills, understand their bodies, and cultivate a passion for running. With proven training techniques, I'm here to help you achieve your running goals. Let's embark on this journey together!

Get to know Coach Sadie

About Me:

I am currently working as an Assistant Cross Country / Track & Field Coach Emory & Henry College where I specializes in coaching the middle distance and distance events. While at E&H I have successfully increasing program standards through quality training, breaking all school records 800m-10K in the first year responsible for the distance program. Prior to assuming my role at Emory & Henry, I spent three years as the Head Cross Country and Track & Field coach at Chilhowie High School in Chilhowie, Virginia.

During my tenure at Chilhowie, Martello coached 16 athletes to all-state performances, including three state championships. My 2023 Chilhowie High School girls’ outdoor track and field team won the VHSL 1D Region team title, placing fifth at the VHSL Class 1 State meet.

In high school I was able to establish myself as a runner, earning six all-state honors in Cross Country and Track & Field, including three state championships in the 400m and 800m distances. I also held the Wyoming all-class girls State Indoor 800m record from 2013-2018.

After high school I continued my athletic career as a Student-Athlete at the University of Utah, where I competed at an elite level in both cross country and Track & Field, specializing in the middle distances. During my time at Utah I posted the school’s then seventh fastest mile and remain a member of the 3rd fastest outdoor DMR in school history.

I graduated from the University of Utah in 2019 with Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology along with a minor in Psychology, which I believe reflects my commitment to a comprehensive understanding of sports science and the psychological aspects of athletic performance.

How I can help you improve your game:

I can teach the why behind every activity that I ask my athletes to perform. Understanding the science of the human body and how to determine, and develop, the strengths and weaknesses of each individual is my strong suit. I excel at making people faster and teaching them why it works.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

My training would include a comprehensive training plan that details the workouts and runs required for 1-4 weeks depending on how frequently meeting are needed/desired. With official "sessions" consisting of 1 in person or video consult/check in to determine training moving forward. Text, email, and phone conversations can also be included to update or ask questions clarifying training.

Daily training would be dependent on the goal of the day. Recovery, interval/workout sessions, base/long run work, or general strength, core and recovery are all areas that will be focused on.

Best coach I ever had:

My parents are the best coaches I have ever had. developing my competitive nature and love for the sport at a young age.

However, my college coaches are who I learned the most from in terms of how to coach and develop runners in the distance events.

What athletes and parents should know about me:

My desire as a coach is to be the coach I wish I had.

I am passionate about helping others achieve their goals and understand just how capable their bodies are. I also hope to teach running in a healthy way that develops a life long relationship with this sport for my athletes, something that can last well after their prime competition years have come and gone.

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you find yourself needing to cancel or adjust your booking within 24 hours of your purchase, just let us know. We'll provide a refund - no questions asked. Your satisfaction is our top priority, and we're here to support your learning journey.
