Why Train With Me?

I have been a Physical Education teacher for almost 18 years now, and have taught at every level from elementary to middle school. I have also coached flag football ranging from elementary to high school aged kids. I received my official personal training and strength and conditioning certification from ISSA a little over a year and a half ago, and am extremely excited to share that knowledge with kids (and adults) of ALL ages.

Athletic Background

Summary of Career and Accomplishments
I have sponsored, coached, and organized numerous school activities (field days, family fitness nights) throughout my 17+ years of education. I have also won multiple (charter school) league championships in flag football for various ages.
Who is the best coach you ever had and why?
The best coach I ever had was my middle school PE teacher who also coached me my first two years of HS football. He was the one who introduced me to resistance training, and really helped motivate me to work hard to achieve my goals.
What should athletes and parents know about you?
My students success is my success. I care deeply about them and want them to succeed in LIFE, not just on the field/court. My goal as an educator is to help them grow to be good human beings, not just great athletes.

Coaching Background

Summary of Coaching Background
I have coached (head coach or assisted) at various levels throughout my educational career (to this point). I have coached students ranging from 8-16 years old, and have coached or assisted with flag/tackle football, basketball, track and field, and soccer.
How can you help someone improve their game?
My focus is to help them improve their fundamentals as well as improve their overall physical fitness which will translate into improved skill performance.
What does a typical training session look like?
First we would review what we went over last session (if there was a prior session). If not, and it was a first session, I would spend some time getting to know the athlete as well as the family. I would want to know what their expectations and goals are for themselves as well as what they are wanting to get from me as their coach/trainer. Once we started training, we would spend part of the training session warming up then move into the fundamentals portion of the session. Depending on how many sessions the family/athlete booked, and what their goals were, that would also depend on how we broke down each session into resistance training and skills training.
