I build high IQ, explosive, fast, and injury-resistant competitive athletes

As a parent, you want your athlete to gain an edge—whether it’s making the varsity team, earning a college scholarship, or staying healthy and strong throughout their career. With over 20 years of experience training athletes at every level—from youth to NFL prospects—I specialize in building speed, power, and injury resilience. My football-specific training focuses on position-based mechanics, first-step explosiveness, and the strength needed to excel in high-impact situations. For speed and strength training, I use biomechanically sound techniques that maximize acceleration, agility, and overall athletic power, ensuring your athlete moves with confidence and control. I’ve helped athletes improve their 40-yard dash, vertical jump, and change-of-direction speed while preventing common injuries like ACL tears and ankle sprains. What sets me apart is my ability to blend science-backed training with real-game application, teaching athletes not just how to get stronger and faster, but how to use it when it matters most. If you want your athlete to play harder, react faster, and stay in the game longer, my program will deliver real results.

Get to know Coach Ben

About Me:

I played D1 football as a middle linebacker, high school football as a fullback/defensive line/linebacker, club soccer for 12 years, high school track and field, and my father was a track coach. Starting playing sports at 3 years of age. I have a Exercise Science B.S., Master's in Human Performance, Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach, Biomechanics Specialist, Certified Personal Trainer, Corrective Exercise Specialist, TPI Level 1 and 2, and Certified Stretch and Mobility Coach. Starting my PHD in Exercise Science this summer.

How I can help you improve your game:

Initial interview and assessment to determine goals, schedule, needs, lifestyle, injury history, and to see if we are a great fit. Then if we decide to work together, we create a plan both in person, virtual if needed, and added homework to work hard towards improving athleticism and sport IQ. The assessment includes neuromuscular testing and tension scores to help indicate how the athletes muscle functions help or hurt their speed. Muscle testing identifies healthy or unhealthy muscle relationships that reveal an athletes posture and joint health.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

Sessions always start with a warm up customized from the muscle testing assessment. Then based on the goals, weight lifting, speed work, corrective exercise, power training, and sports and specific training are incorporated. Each session is customized so its hard to exactly say. Movement skill is always a huge focus. Flexibility, Mobility, Balance, and Power/Endurance/repeat skill are always incorporated into each session.

Career summary and accomplishments:

Injuries ruined my athletic career and many were self imposed and coach imposed from poor practice and training decisions. I understand the bane of how improper training and practice can ruin an athletes life. As a 20 year professional, I have worked with over 100 NFL players, MLB players, collegiate soccer, Olympic swimming, NBA players, and every age group and sport underneath. I have worked for NFL combine facilities, elite soccer and golf organizations, and have helped 1000s of athletes gain speed, strength, power and endurance relative to their positions and sport.

Best coach I ever had:

Coach Hunt was the best coach I've ever had. He was my football coach and personal trainer in high school. He played for the steelers in the 70s and was one tough man. He trained me well, I was fast, strong, and lean under his guidance. More importantly, he was like a second father. My parents divorced and he was a great example of a man when my father moved out. My father was also awesome as well. I am lucky to have many great men influence my life.

What athletes and parents should know about me:

I am a very tough coach. I am kind but very stern and very scientific. Technique is everything as that dictates the best ability to move fast. I try to instill a lifestyle to support goals. Goals are achieved through sleep and recovery, performance nutrition, workout homework, and a training lifestyle that is tailored to the skill, age, and sex of the athlete. Each athlete comes with different muscular needs that if not dealt with can lead to injury. Helping athletes stay healthy is the most important thing. As a coach, I am consistent, an open book, approachable, and highly communicative. I try to teach as much as possible, as athletic IQ requires mastery, toughness, and focus to create a high performance mindset.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.

Our coaches are open to helping athletes of any age and skill level. Please message your desired coach to ensure their skillset fits your needs.

AU was created by former collegiate and professional athletes. We understand the benefits of training with a private coach. It develops discipline, boosts confidence, and provides an undeniable advantage - whether you are just learning the game or looking to earn a college scholarship. All AU coaches are required to pass a thorough onboarding process and we proudly showcase a 10% acceptance rate, so you can trust you're training with the best.

At the end of the day, our mission is to provide athletes with better opportunities to succeed through coaching. You won't find a platform, and group of dedicated specialists, more excited to help you achieve your athletic goals!
