I have a Masters in Sports Psychology and my CPT with NASM, specializing in sports performance training and strength training. Fusing mental performance and fitness together has allowed me to reach athletes on both a mental and physical level. As a former professional dancer, I understand the demands of being an elite athlete and how important it is to train your body mentally and physically. I love building relationships and getting to know my athletes to see how we can achieve performance goals together.

About Me:

I began dancing at the age of 5 and never looked back. My career in dance led me to a career in fitness and performance psychology, for which I am so grateful. I danced pre-professionally in the Chicago suburbs and in the city, making my professional debut at 16. I received my BFA in Dance Performance from Northern Illinois University where I performed ballet, contemporary and musical theater works, and had a well-rounded performing arts education including course work in kinesiology, acting, and theater design.

In 2013 I got the opportunity to dance in Fort Worth, Texas with Ballet Concerto. After graduating NIU, I pursued other professional opportunities in Chicago, dancing with leading choreographers and companies, and working with children's theater.

How I can help you improve your game:

Through mental performance training, we will dive into your performance goals and discover what road blocks you are facing that are preventing you from achieving peak performance. We will work through using different sports psychology techniques including goal setting, visualization, and positive self-talk to achieve mental toughness and make you a better athlete on and off the field.

Strength and speed training sessions are tailored to the athlete's sport and goals. These sessions are meant to help supplement the training the athlete is doing in their sport either during their season or in the off-season. We will work on building strength, power, endurance and flexibility, depending on the athlete's goals.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

Mental performance sessions can be done in-person or virtually. These sessions are conversational. We will talk through what is currently going on in your mental performance, work through different goals, explore how to achieve mental toughness.

Fitness sessions will always begin with a warm up. Depending on the day, the time in the season, and what the athlete's current goals are, we will work through various strength, agility, power or endurance exercises. Sometimes these will be done as a single set, sometimes as a super-set or circuit. We will always end with stretching and a cool down.

Career summary and accomplishments:

I coached and taught dance for almost 10 years before transitioning into the fitness and mental performance world. I taught children of all ages and levels, and coached competition dance. I am a certified personal trainer through the National Association of Sports Medicine. I have additional certifications in women's fitness and sports performance enhancement. I worked as a Specialist Personal Trainer at Chicago Athletic Clubs for 4 years, earning the title of Trainer of the Year twice. In 2020, I decided to build a private training and coaching business. I moved my business to Los Angeles and trained clients in-person and virtually for 3 years before moving back to Chicago. In 2021 I went back to school for my Masters in Sports & Performance Psychology. I have been privately working with athletes and performing artists on their mental performance for the past 3 years. I am currently pursuing my CMPC through the Applied Association of Sports Psychology.

Best coach I ever had:

My dance teacher growing up, Kelly. She was the person who inspired me to pursue dance and follow my dreams. Kelly had a way of captivating her students and let her passion for dance radiate to her students. She knew when to be strict, when to have fun, and always gave important and honest feedback. She I everything I strive to be in a coach!

What athletes and parents should know about me:

Building a relationship with my athletes and parents is the most important thing to me. I love getting to know my athletes and figuring out the best way to help them reach their goals, whether it be for strength or mental performance. I love to laugh and have fun, but also know when it's time to be serious and get work done. Working in psychology has helped me understand people's energy and knowing the right way to approach working with others.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.

Our coaches are open to helping athletes of any age and skill level. Please message your desired coach to ensure their skillset fits your needs.

AU was created by former collegiate and professional athletes. We understand the benefits of training with a private coach. It develops discipline, boosts confidence, and provides an undeniable advantage - whether you are just learning the game or looking to earn a college scholarship. All AU coaches are required to pass a thorough onboarding process and we proudly showcase a 10% acceptance rate, so you can trust you're training with the best.

At the end of the day, our mission is to provide athletes with better opportunities to succeed through coaching. You won't find a platform, and group of dedicated specialists, more excited to help you achieve your athletic goals!
