I bring a wealth of knowledge, from fundamental skills to advanced techniques, and I focus on helping players not only improve their game but also develop the mindset and discipline needed to succeed on and off the court. I played basketball at DeSoto High School, where I was a key contributor to our team’s state championship victory in my senior year. During my time at DeSoto, I earned numerous awards for my performance and leadership on the court. My success at the high school level earned me a full-ride scholarship to the University of Houston, where I played during my freshman and sophomore years, competing at a high level in collegiate basketball. My experience in both high school and college has given me deep insight into what it takes to succeed in competitive basketball, from discipline and training to game preparation and execution.
My approach to improving a player’s game is rooted in personalized training that focuses on developing core fundamentals while enhancing each athlete’s unique strengths. I emphasize strong footwork, basketball IQ, ball handling, shooting mechanics, and defensive positioning. Having played at a championship level in high school and competed in college, I understand what it takes to perform under pressure. I tailor my training to address the areas each player needs to work on, whether it’s sharpening their offensive skills, improving court vision, or boosting their physical conditioning. I focus not only on physical skills but also on building the mental toughness and confidence required to elevate a player’s game.
A typical training session with me is tailored to the player’s specific needs and goals but generally includes a balance of skill work, conditioning, and basketball IQ development. We start with a dynamic warm-up to improve flexibility, footwork, and agility, followed by drills that focus on ball handling, shooting form, and finishing at the rim. I also incorporate game-situation drills to improve decision-making and court awareness. Depending on the player’s position and focus, we’ll work on offensive and defensive techniques like pick-and-roll execution, perimeter shooting, or post moves. I like to finish with competitive, high-intensity drills that simulate real game pressure, so players leave the session having pushed their limits.
I have no previous coaching background.
The best coach I ever had was Andrea Robinson, my high school coach at DeSoto. She had an incredible ability to push me beyond my limits and get the absolute best out of me. Coach Robinson didn’t just focus on skill development; she emphasized discipline, mental toughness, and preparation—things that not only made me a better player but also a better person. She held me accountable and made me understand that success comes from hard work and consistency. Her coaching style helped me elevate my game and instilled values that I carry with me to this day. The lessons I learned from her have shaped how I approach the game and now influence how I coach others.
As a former high school state champion and college athlete, I’ve experienced firsthand the journey from youth basketball to the collegiate level. I know the dedication, discipline, and passion it takes to succeed, and I bring that same energy to my training sessions. My goal is not just to improve a player’s physical skills, but to also build their confidence, work ethic, and basketball IQ. I believe in pushing players to reach their full potential, while also offering guidance on how to balance the demands of school, athletics, and life. I’m passionate about developing well-rounded athletes who can excel on the court and in life, and I take pride in seeing my players grow and achieve their goals.
