Track Coach focused on speed, endurance, and mental toughness.

Hi, I’m Coach George Woods. I specialize in youth track and field, coaching everything from the 100m to cross country, with a focus on the 200m, 400m, and 800m. I help athletes build speed, endurance, and confidence by training them to be the best version of themselves—because when you train at the top of your game, the wins take care of themselves. My goal is simple: help your athlete be proud of their progress—but never satisfied.

About Me:

I’m here to help your athlete grow—not just as a runner, but as a person.

I care about more than just times and medals. I focus on effort, mindset, confidence, and long-term progress. I don’t yell when mistakes happen—I coach through them. Because growth comes from learning, not fear.

I study sports psychology, nutrition, and athletic development to better understand what young athletes need—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. Every athlete I coach is unique, and I make it a point to meet them where they are, listen to how they think, and help them move forward with purpose.

I also take time to help each runner discover what races and strategies bring out their best. One of the biggest myths in track is that there’s only one way to run a race. That’s not true. I help athletes find their way.

Most importantly, I believe in every kid I coach—even when they’re struggling to believe in themselves. That belief is the foundation of everything we build.

If your athlete trains with me, they’ll be challenged, encouraged, and supported in becoming the best version of themselves—on and off the track.

How I can help you improve your game:

Every athlete has another level inside them. My job is to help unlock it.

I don’t just coach for wins—I coach for growth. I analyze each athlete’s strengths, form, and mindset to help them find the races and racing styles that fit them best. One of the biggest myths in track is that there’s only one way to run every race. That’s not true. Every athlete has a different stride, a different gear, and a different way to win.

I help athletes train smarter, race more confidently, and max out their potential—from the 100m to cross country. Whether your child is new to the sport or chasing a national qualifying time, I meet them where they are and build from there.

You’ve got goals. I’ve got the tools to get you there.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

Every training session I run is designed based on the athlete’s event focus, experience level, and where they are in the season. Whether it’s preseason conditioning, in-season sharpening, or recovery-based training, each athlete or small group follows an individualized plan to make sure they’re improving the right way, at the right time.

We usually begin with a structured dynamic warm-up, followed by drills focused on mechanics—like stride efficiency, arm swing, breathing, and posture. After that, we move into the core of the workout: speed intervals, endurance sets, race simulations, hills, or technique work—depending on the day’s goal.

Throughout the session, I give real-time feedback, adjust intensity as needed, and help athletes understand the why behind what they’re doing.

We finish with cool down exercises, recovery guidance, and a short talk about how they felt, what they learned, and what’s next.

Career summary and accomplishments:

I’ve had the privilege of running and coaching at some of the highest levels of professional track and field—but that’s not what defines me. What I’ve done in the past doesn’t matter nearly as much as what I’m building now: strong, confident athletes with the tools to grow, compete, and succeed on and off the track. I’m not an ego coach. I don’t make training about me—I make it about the athlete. My focus is always on how I can help them improve, unlock their potential, and believe in themselves. My greatest accomplishment isn’t a medal or a title—it’s watching athletes I’ve trained discover their confidence, drop time, overcome fear, and love the process. If we work together, know this: I’m fully invested in your future—not my past.

Best coach I ever had:

The best coach I ever had was Coach John. He didn’t yell when we messed up—he understood we were human. He helped me with the mental side of running, talked to me like a person, and helped me find who I was as a runner.

But the most important thing?

He believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself.

That changed everything for me—and it’s a big part of how I coach today.

I bring that same energy into every session. I coach with encouragement, patience, and belief—because for a young athlete, mindset matters as much as speed. When they feel seen, supported, and believed in, they start to believe in themselves. And that’s when the real growth happens.
