Science-backed mental training for peak performance with compassionate coaching

With a doctorate (earned, not conferred yet) in sport and performance psychology and over 4 years of consulting experience, I've helped teams and athletes sharpen their mental game. My work has contributed to three conference titles, multiple Coach and Goalie of the year awards, and numerous all-conference honors. Specializing in team sports but with a broad reach into individual and nontraditional athletic settings like motorsports, I use evidence-based, science-backed techniques to build mental resilience, focus, and confidence, among other sport specific mental skills. I'm known for being both results-driven and easy to work with - helping athletes and coaches turn pressure into peak performance.

About Me:

As an athlete I enjoyed multiple sports (Soccer, Rugby, Swimming, and Equestrian Sports) at various levels from club, college, and on state travel teams.

As a sports coach I have loved my work with youth, club, and high school soccer (boys and girls) and boys swim and dive. This work involved everything from team selection, periodized skill progression, game analysis (pre and post), ad ensuring the team's were prepared for tournaments, regionals, and state tournaments.

How I can help you improve your game:

My role in helping you improve starts with gaining a clear understanding of where you currently stand in your mental game, where you want to go, and any challenges that may be holding you back. This process includes not only assessing your individual mindset and skills but also taking a deeper look at your role within your sport. By understanding the demands of your position, team dynamics, and external factors that influence performance, we can develop at targeted, science-based approach. This foundation allows us to create a plan that maximizes your potential and helps you perform at your best.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

All sessions are tailored to the athlete's specific needs but generally follows a structured approach. We start with reviewing any recent performances, discussing successes, challenges, and any barriers to performance still felt. From there we focus on targeted mental skill development or education, such as evidence-based techniques like visualization, mindfulness, increasing self-efficacy, self-talk strategies or pre-performance routines. Sessions often include scenario based exercises to help apply the skills in a sport specific context. We work together to develop a plan for practicing the skills and then implementing the strategies during performance.

Each session is designed to be interactive, practical, and directly applicable to enhancing performance.

Career summary and accomplishments:

As a mental skills coach I have worked with high school and college athletes (both NIAI and NCAA), as well as professionals looking for the advantage that comes from having a strong mental game. In my role as a metal skills coach I have helped teams develop the mental skills that allowed back to back conference titles, and a team rebuilding their program go undefeated in conference play and win their first conference title in years. I have worked with numerous athletes who have earned all conference honors, and three separate hockey goalies to get the goalie of the year award for their conference, and worked with coaches who would be awarded the coach of the year for their conference.

Best coach I ever had:

Coach Norris, who at the time coached high school club rugby, has been my all time favorite coach. His ability to inspire his players to want to earn excellence for themselves and for their team is incredible. Highly knowledgeable and skilled coach who treated everyone with compassion.

What athletes and parents should know about me:

Athletes and parents should know that I bring a proven, science-backed approach to mental skill training, helping athletes build confidence, increase focus, and develop stronger resilience.

With a doctorate (earned, not conferred yet) in sport and performance psychology and years of experience working with teams and individuals - including conference champions, award winning coaches, and national-level competitors- I understand what it takes to perform under pressure. Whether in team sports, individual competitions or nontraditional athletics like motorsports, I tailor my approach to each athlete's unique needs. I'm compassionate, easy to work with, and committed to helping athletes reach their full potential in sport and in their personal life.

To effectively integrate and apply the mental skills we work on, athletes should expect to dedicate 2-3 additional hours per session for maximum benefit. This time should be spent not only on developing the skills we covered but also practicing and applying them in real-world situations, whether during practice or individually.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.

Our coaches are open to helping athletes of any age and skill level. Please message your desired coach to ensure their skillset fits your needs.

AU was created by former collegiate and professional athletes. We understand the benefits of training with a private coach. It develops discipline, boosts confidence, and provides an undeniable advantage - whether you are just learning the game or looking to earn a college scholarship. All AU coaches are required to pass a thorough onboarding process and we proudly showcase a 10% acceptance rate, so you can trust you're training with the best.

At the end of the day, our mission is to provide athletes with better opportunities to succeed through coaching. You won't find a platform, and group of dedicated specialists, more excited to help you achieve your athletic goals!
