I’ve been playing competitive basketball since I was 7 years old, developing a deep understanding of the game through years of high-level AAU and high school competition in NYC. As the captain of my high school team, I led by example with my work ethic, leadership, and versatility on the court. Growing up as a shorter guard until my 10th-grade summer, I developed strong ball-handling, court vision, and perimeter skills. When I hit a growth spurt to 6’3, I became a hybrid forward/guard, allowing me to play and understand all five positions. Coaches always praised my basketball IQ, adaptability, and coachability, which gave me an edge in reading the game and adjusting to different roles. I also won multiple AAU summer tournaments, proving my ability to compete and perform at a high level against top talent.
I help players improve by focusing on fundamentals, game awareness, and confidence-building. My training is personalized, meaning I identify each athlete’s strengths and weaknesses and tailor drills to maximize their development. Whether it’s refining shooting mechanics, improving ball-handling, developing better decision-making, or enhancing defensive skills, I ensure that every player leaves our sessions with a deeper understanding of their game and the tools to apply what they’ve learned in real-game situations. I also emphasize mental toughness, leadership, and adaptability, preparing players to excel at any level.
A typical session is structured, high-energy, and built around game-realistic drills that translate directly to in-game success.
• Warm-Up (5-10 min): Dynamic stretching, footwork drills, and ball-handling activation.
• Skill Development (30-40 min): Position-specific training, covering shooting, ball-handling, finishing, defense, or whatever area the player needs to improve.
• Game Situations (10-15 min): Live drills that focus on decision-making, game reads, and in-game execution.
• Conditioning & Mental Toughness (5-10 min): Competitive challenges that push endurance, focus, and confidence under pressure.
• Cool-Down & Recap (5 min): Reviewing key takeaways, setting goals for the next session, and reinforcing what was learned.
I have extensive experience coaching and mentoring young athletes in both structured leagues and developmental programs. I’ve coached teams in the Oak Ridge Military Academy Rec League and the Peeler Community Center Rec Ball Team, where I focused on player development, teamwork, and in-game strategy. Additionally, I coach in two after-school programs: Holistic Hoops, a faith-based basketball training and mentorship program, and Kids Poetry Basketball, a literacy-based program that incorporates basketball drills to teach both reading and introductory basketball skills. My coaching philosophy blends fundamental skill development with basketball IQ, confidence-building, and character development, ensuring that players grow on and off the court.
The best coach I ever had was Coach Casio in high school. He continuously pushed me to be a leader, to stay aggressive on the court, and to never settle for being average. He emphasized accountability and always challenged me to prioritize improvement over complacency. His coaching mindset shaped the way I train and mentor young athletes today—always striving for growth, discipline, and a winner’s mentality.
Athletes and parents should know that I’ve been playing basketball at a competitive level since I was 7 years old and have first-hand experience mastering multiple positions on the court. My unique journey—developing guard skills before growing into a bigger, more versatile player—gives me a deep understanding of how to teach and develop players at any position. I know what it takes to improve, adapt, and excel, and I bring that same passion, high basketball IQ, and coach ability to every player I train.
