Athletic Background
Summary of Career and Accomplishments
I have extensive experience with defensive backs. After a successful high school career, including a state finals appearance as a senior, all league honors, and multiple college offers, I got the opportunity to play safety at Whitworth University in Washington State. At Whitworth, I had the chance to play 5 seasons from 2017 to 2021, winning a conference championship in 2018 and advancing to the second round of the national playoffs. Additionally, I led my team in forced turnovers for two consecutive years as a senior and 5th-year senior. In addition to my 6 interceptions and 3 forced fumbles, I contributed on multiple special teams units.
Who is the best coach you ever had and why?
The best coach I had was my college defensive backs coach, Coach Duke. Duke taught me about the virtues of true hard work and focusing on the little things. Not only did I have a great working relationship with Coach Duke, but we also developed a tight personal relationship, too. I had the chance to work with Coach Duke during my time as the Safeties Coach, and was able to flourish largely in part due to his leadership and trust in me. Coach Duke and I are still in touch, and I even had the chance to be at his wedding. Duke held me accountable and provided a servant leadership coaching philosophy that I have adopted into my philosophy as well.
What should athletes and parents know about you?
Athletes and parents should know that I am committed and professional. If given the chance to work together, I will place a high value on our relationship and give you everything I've got. Also, parents, I have lots of experience working with kids at various sports skills camps, college and high school coaching, and a professional background in behavioral therapy for children with autism, as well as a Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
Coaching Background
Summary of Coaching Background
Once my playing career was over, I immediately took over as the safeties coach at Whitworth University. I continued our culture of excellence for two years until I moved to Virginia Beach to get my master's degree. I had the opportunity in 2023 to be the defensive backs coach, running backs coach, and special teams coordinator at Atlantic Shores Christian School. During my year with Shores, we had the opportunity to make a playoff appearance where we competed in the state semi-finals. In addition to our team accomplishments, a high number of our players earned all conference and all state honors, with multiple players earning Division One scholarships.
How can you help someone improve their game?
I can help someone improve their game by providing training on the fundamentals of multiple positions, as well as basic athleticism and conditioning. I have successfully aided multiple athletes as they transition positions from linebacker to defensive back and wide receiver to defensive back, and I am confident in my abilities to teach anyone. I can also provide training on the mental side of the game, teaching multiple philosophies and increasing your football IQ level.
What does a typical training session look like?
A typical training session includes a 5-10 minute dynamic warm up, followed by 3-5 position specific drills, and concluding with some general football athleticism drills and potential conditioning and speedwork depending on fitness level.
