I've coached Bay Area youth baseball for the past six years, with an adaptive, player-centric style geared toward helping kids develop and hone their skills, while channeling their energy and enthusiasm through healthy competition. As a lettered high school baseball player (pitcher, 1B) with 11 years of playing experience, I'm excited about the opportunity to share my passion for the game, and to lead and inspire kids both on and off the field!

About Me:

High School Baseball and Football (4 years / lettered athlete)

Positions: pitcher and first base (baseball), quarterback (football)

11 years youth baseball playing experience

Black Belt, Tae Kwon Do (Grandmaster Richard Chun)

How I can help you improve your game:

My coaching style is holistic, adaptive, and hands-on, with a player-centered approach to training, motivation and competition. I develop a regimen that meets the player at his/her level with a focus on building on their unique strengths, while also helping them address challenges - both physical and mental - that are potentially keeping them from reaching their potential. My approach is collaborative rather than top-down, as I endeavor to really understand every facet of a player and partner with them in a very intentional way to address their goals.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

My approach typically starts with an athlete self-assessment to understand what they would like to get out of a coaching program in terms of: i) skills/position development, ii) personal goals as a player/athlete, and iii) unique personal challenges they would like to overcome as part of their journey.

My coaching sessions (1 hour) generally consist of some combination of the following segments (note: #1,2 are part of EVERY session, #3,4 and 5 vary by preference):

1) Cardio warm-ups / dynamic stretching: round-the-bases @1/2 speed, side-to-sides, lunges/high knees/cones, arm circles (10 min)

2) Progression throwing: stationary forward throwing from fixed position (no hips/legs, minimal arm extension), followed by complete delivery with full arm extension driving from hips/legs (5-10 min)

3) Fielding (grounders): short hop reflex drills, right/left-split step/field/funnel/throwing movements (10 min)

4) Fielding (flies): drop-step, tracking ball above body, catching/throwing progression (10 min)

5) Hitting fundamentals (stance/load/stride/follow-through) using soft toss, and live pitch reps (10-15 min)

6) Mental game: game tactics/decisions, "winning" mindset / motivational strategies (5-10 min)

7) Cool-down / static stretching (hamstring, arm, torso stretches) (5 min)

8) Coaching recap (5 min)

Also: I typically ask that players incorporate practice routines (throwing, fielding footwork, batting progression) between coaching sessions to reinforce key learnings.

Best coach I ever had:

My first-ever coach (Mike) was probably my best coach, as he taught me the fundamentals of the game, had confidence in my abilities as a budding young athlete, and inspired me to embark on an 11-year, joyful youth baseball journey as an All-Star pitcher.

What athletes and parents should know about me:

I'm the proud father to an 11-year old son, and have been actively involved in his own personal journey as a multi-sport athlete (baseball, tennis, martial arts)ever since he started walking. I hail from an extended family of 5 siblings and 19 nieces/nephews, and have been grateful for the opportunity to help teach, lead and inspire kids my entire life.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.

Our coaches are open to helping athletes of any age and skill level. Please message your desired coach to ensure their skillset fits your needs.

AU was created by former collegiate and professional athletes. We understand the benefits of training with a private coach. It develops discipline, boosts confidence, and provides an undeniable advantage - whether you are just learning the game or looking to earn a college scholarship. All AU coaches are required to pass a thorough onboarding process and we proudly showcase a 10% acceptance rate, so you can trust you're training with the best.

At the end of the day, our mission is to provide athletes with better opportunities to succeed through coaching. You won't find a platform, and group of dedicated specialists, more excited to help you achieve your athletic goals!
