Hi, I’m Jase Harrison, and with a rich background as both a professional basketball player and an aspiring sports and exercise psychologist, I offer a holistic approach to athlete development. My journey spans across playing for elite teams like the London Lions and Derby Trailblazers, to coaching and mentoring at various levels, including professional. With experience as a Player Development Coach for the London Lions, I have honed the ability to develop and maintain the elite skills necessary for top-tier performance. In my role as a Mental Skills Trainer and through various sports psychology placements, I’ve delivered workshops on motivation, confidence, resilience, and focus. These sessions have empowered athletes to enhance their mental fortitude, both on and off the court. My hands-on experience with sports psychology internships, like the one with Graham Betchart, has equipped me with the tools to integrate quick action interventions and courtside therapy seamlessly. Currently, as a Sport and Exercise Psychologist in Training, I’m deepening my expertise by working with diverse athletes, from adolescents to professionals, across various sports. My objective is to blend psychological principles with athletic training to enhance performance, mental well-being, and overall enjoyment in sports. By training with me, athletes gain a comprehensive development program that addresses both their physical skills and psychological resilience, ensuring they are well-prepared to excel under pressure and achieve their fullest potential.

My approach to training is both comprehensive and personalized. I combine my extensive experience as a professional basketball player with my in-depth knowledge of sports psychology to create a unique training environment that addresses both the physical and mental aspects of athletic performance.
Holistic Development: I believe in developing athletes as whole individuals. My training goes beyond physical skills to include mental conditioning, ensuring athletes are not only technically proficient but also mentally resilient and focused.
Professional Experience: Having played and coached at high levels, I understand the demands and pressures of elite competition. This experience allows me to tailor training programs that meet the specific needs of each athlete.
Mental Skills Training: With a background in sports psychology, I equip athletes with tools to manage stress, stay motivated, and maintain focus. My sessions cover vital topics like goal setting, confidence building, and resilience, helping athletes perform their best under pressure.
Personalized Attention: Every athlete is unique, and I pride myself on understanding and addressing individual needs. My goal is to help athletes not just succeed in their sport, but also enjoy their journey and grow as individuals.
Communication is key, and I strive to keep all parties informed and involved in the athlete's development process.
A typical training session with me is designed to be comprehensive, engaging, and tailored to the specific needs of each athlete. You can expect a fairly typical warm-up involving dynamic stretching and mobility exercises to prepare the body with added mindfulness and visualization techniques to focus the mind. We would then move into skill development including drills targeting specific basketball skills (shooting, dribbling, passing, etc) with personalized feedback and adjustments based on performance review. After the initial session I would work with the athlete (and parents when applicable) in setting short-term goals for the session and long-term development objectives. Sessions will also include court-side therapy interventions and mental skills training which would include techniques for performance anxiety, concentration, and confidence building, for example. I am very big on game reps and simulating game scenarios to practice decision-making and tactical awareness. It is all about being able to actually apply the skills we develop in training. Lastly, sessions would typically end with a quick cool down / reflection on the session.
Each session is designed to be dynamic and adaptable, ensuring that athletes not only develop their physical skills but also enhance their mental performance. This holistic approach helps athletes perform at their best in all aspects of their sport.
My coaching background is extensive and diverse, encompassing a range of roles and experiences across different levels of competition. My highest level of coaching was in the role of a player development coach for the London Lions, a top tier professional club that competed in both the British Basketball League and EuroCup. This role involved working with professional basketball players in developing and maintaining skills necessary for elite performance. I led player development training sessions which involved constant creativity in creating engaging and practical workouts on a daily basis. I also have multiple years of experience as the head coach of both a semi-pro basketball club and a university basketball team. I led teams to competitive success, fostering both individual player development and team cohesion through strategic coaching and mentoring. Lastly, I have been training individuals, on and off, in one to one sessions and group workouts since around 2019 in the Los Angeles area.
It is hard to choose just one because I have been blessed to play for many fantastic coaches. My AAU coach had a major impact on my development not only as an athlete but also as a person. I felt support like no other combined with the accountability to push me to be my best. My experiences in college were also great as I played for a very successful team and a coach that planted my love for the mental side of sport as well. As a professional, Ive played for coaches that pushed me to my limits on the court while encouraging and supporting my efforts off the court to purse further education and my accreditation as a sports psychologist. In honesty, every coach I have played for has had a positive impact on my life overall and my experiences in sport.
Parents and athletes should know that I bring not only professional expertise but also good character, strong ethical values and a deep connection to the sports community. My journey in both playing and coaching basketball has been driven by a passion for the game and a commitment to helping athletes reach their full potential. I pride myself on integrity, empathy, and dedication. These values guide my interactions with athletes, ensuring a positive and supportive environment where they can thrive. My approach is athlete-centered, focusing on their well-being and personal growth alongside their athletic achievements.
I would also like to emphasize that my experiences has allowed me to build a robust network within the sports industry. I’ve worked with renowned sports psychologist Graham Betchart, coached at the professional level, and collaborated with various organizations like TheSecretTrainer and BTI. These connections enable me to stay updated with the latest practices and provide valuable opportunities for the athletes I train.
By training with me, athletes benefit from a coach who is not only technically skilled but also deeply committed to their overall development, supported by a strong network within the sports field.
