My whole life has been set up to coach athletes at the highest level. I went to college to get a Sports Management Degree so I could learn if nothing else the science behind proper training and fitness down to the cellular level. I then spent years training with the fastest runners in the world to learn their training secrets. I played one year of semi-pro indoor soccer, 11 years of professional distance running and one year of PGA Mini-tour golf. I even set the record for the highest PT score in the US Army which I trained myself for. Once I started coaching teams and athletes my extensive background showed through. Nothing but undefeated teams and seasons. Many individual State Champions and even some age group world record holders. When coaching athletes, I bring a different level of expertise and perspectives to my approaches and only get the best out of the athletes I coach. I have coached all levels from beginners to top athletes and everything in-between. I pride myself as a coach who can work with any athlete and help them achieve their goals.

About Me:

I played many sports but mostly soccer, long distance running and golf. I competed at some sort of professional level in each of these sports. I won a State Championship for the NJ All-Star for age 12 and 13 even though I was only 10. I then tried out and got selected to play semi-pro indoor soccer and did it for one season because outdoor was more my style.

I ran at State and National Championships while in High School and College in both Cross Country and Track and Field. Continued to run all over the world winning 165 races and three marathons.

While in the Army I set the record for the highest score on the Army PT score with 122 push-ups in two minutes, 120 sit-ups in two minutes and ran 9:13 for the two-mile run.

At age 32 I started playing golf and at age 35 passed the PGA players ability test and turn pro. Played one year on the New England Mini-Tour in 2006.

Started running again at age 45 and either won my age group or the overall race in trail racing.

How I can help you improve your game:

It always starts with fitness and flexibility. The stronger and fitter an athlete the better they will be able improve in all aspects and play better than they ever have before. Then you make sure they know and perfect the basic skills a particular sport requires. Without the basics you can't efficiently move on to the more difficult skills. I always mix in the mental aspects a sport demands on an athlete especially in competition. The most mentally tough athletes always seem to rise to the top in competitive situations. Every training session ends with a good complete stretching session to help them prevent injuries and achieve great movement throughout their activities.

Another important part of success for an athlete is setting up routines and schedules. This includes when and what they eat, when they go to bed and wake up and what other activities they should and should not be doing especially in season.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

We warm up the body with some light jogging or running. Distance depends on fitness of the athlete. Then we move into strength and speed training which includes various activities and plyometrics. Then we move right into skills training including basic skills and more advanced skills to make sure they always have the basics perfected. During each training session we will work on skills that maybe a weakness of theirs, so it then becomes a strength. Some days we will end the training session with some muscular strength activities to make sure the athlete is stronger than their competitors especially during competition. We always wrap up the session with stretching and a question-and-answer session so that the athlete can pick the mind of the coach to gain the knowledge they may feel is important to them.

Career summary and accomplishments:

I have coached all levels of athletes in many different sports and my goal for them was always to help them achieve their goals. While doing this my teams as a whole had great successes. My Sports Management Degree and my two years as the Director of a YMCA teaching and coaching all sports has blessed me with knowledge you can't find anywhere else. I had athletes in track and field win their individual races including at the State Championships which helped the team as a whole go undefeated in the League and finish second at states. When coaching soccer, I was always the coach who was given the beginning players because of my background leaving all the more experienced players on the other teams. I taught them their skills and how to play the game as a team and we always finished the season in the top three. In golf I had the opportunity to give the Supreme Court Justices a clinic and had a more one on one lesson with Sandra Day O'Connell. She improved her ball striking and played very well that day as I caddied her along in the tournament.

Best coach I ever had:

The best coach I had was Sam Bare. He coached me while I was in High School as a private coach. The High School agreed to let him coach me even though he was not part of the High School itself. He was a seven-time all-American in college and a sub four-minute miler. He was currently working as the Head Cross Country Coach at Allegany Community College where he won nine National Championships. He also started Allegany Running club which at the time was the best team in the country. He taught me the best ways to train while in High School and I was able to run my fastest time by a long shot and enjoyed the fact that I qualified and competed in the State and National Championships.

What athletes and parents should know about me:

I have been very God Blessed with athletic talent and knowledge and love sharing these skills and knowledge with others so I can see the joy on their faces when they succeed and accomplish their own goals. Since I have stopped competing on my own, I have welcomed the opportunity to work with you the athlete and with your kids the athletes so that the skills and knowledge can be passed along to the next generation.

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.
