Learn how to excel at each and every aspect of pitching

There's a lot of emphasis these days on velocity, and it's true that velocity alone can get you pretty far. However, not every young athlete is going to throw 100mph, and even if you do, it's beneficial to learn how to truly pitch. After working with me, you can expect an increase in results on the field, a better understanding of pitching strategy, and the knowledge of how to keep improving and stay healthy as you further your career. As someone who played at 3 different collegiate levels, I can also provide valuable insight for players hoping to join a college team in the future.

About Me:

Pitched for 3 Collegiate Levels

- Division I Towson University

- Division III University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg

- Junior College CCBC Dundalk

Was known for having a repertoire of 6 high movement pitches, the best ones being a changeup and a 2 seamer.

Called my own pitches at every level, was a true "student of the game", and approached pitch sequencing in creative ways that kept the hitters guessing.

How I can help you improve your game:

By breaking things down into simple things to work on. Through a combination of video analysis, a general assessment of a player's strengths and weaknesses, and taking into account what a player wants to work on, I'll make a tailored gameplan for improvement. Additionally, we will work to improve some of the fundamental components that make a pitcher successful. An example of some of the categories are as follows:

Velocity and Spinrate, Command, Offspeed Pitches, Pitching Strategy and Baseball IQ, Mindset Coaching, Injury Prevention

In total this will result in a significant overall improvement, and increase a player's career trajectory (and we all want to play for as long as we can!).

What a typical training session looks like with me:

Time: 1 Hour

Note: Training session may vary due to a player's pitching schedule.

- Warmup (throwing)

- Bullpen (Part 1)

- Break/Video Analysis (simulates dugout time)

- Bullpen (Part 2 - Try to make adjustments discussed in video analysis)

- Short Break

- Game Simulation (stand-in batter and pitch-calling)

The next part will be either no or light throwing, and depends on what we're working on. It could include:

- Video Analysis compared with MLB pitchers (to show "this is what it should look like")

- Additional Video Analysis using cutting-edge tools

- Pitch Sequencing Game

- Advanced pitching strategy

- Pitch grips

- Pitch release practice

- Pickoff moves

- Mindset discussion

- Mechanics drills

I will usually end a session by listing and demonstrating some optional at-home drills that a player can do throughout the week.

Career summary and accomplishments:

- Coached AAU and private pitching lessons for ages 11-15 - Coached general baseball skills for ages 6-10 - Umpired for the Berwyn-Paoli Little League I am open to coaching all ages, but feel I would be of most use to 8th-12th graders, especially those who wish to play in college.

Best coach I ever had:

My dad, for so many reasons, but notedly for the following 3 lessons:

- Habits and mechanics are the foundations for everything, and thus are the most important things to work on. Everything else becomes much easier when you have good habits and mechanics.

- If you're going to do something, do it 100%.

- Don't try to do everything all at once. Start with the basics, and work your way up from there.

What athletes and parents should know about me:

I have a background in baseball-specific data science, game theory, video editing and analysis, and am currently working as a programmer for virtual/augmented reality baseball applications.

I am up-to-date with current technology trends, and will be using them in the coaching sessions when necessary to aid in the learning experience. I am aware that sometimes technology gets a little overwhelming, and am very adept at simplifying things and only delivering pertinent information. However, if a player is interested, I'm also able to teach them how to utilize the tools themselves.

I am also very aware of the growing rate of arm problems seen in today's youth, and while some of the work we do may be to increase velocity, I will always be prioritizing arm health. I worked with both the Phillies' and Orioles' head physical therapists during my playing career, and will incorporate the core fundamentals of arm health that I learned from them.

Additionally, as someone who has played 3 different levels of college ball, I am very familiar with the different levels of play, and (if wanted) I can share my opinion on what level a player might be a good fit for. I can also aid in the production of a highlight reel, and provide insights to the recruitment process, with the goal of increasing the odds of a player joining the college team of their dreams.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.

Our coaches are open to helping athletes of any age and skill level. Please message your desired coach to ensure their skillset fits your needs.

AU was created by former collegiate and professional athletes. We understand the benefits of training with a private coach. It develops discipline, boosts confidence, and provides an undeniable advantage - whether you are just learning the game or looking to earn a college scholarship. All AU coaches are required to pass a thorough onboarding process and we proudly showcase a 10% acceptance rate, so you can trust you're training with the best.

At the end of the day, our mission is to provide athletes with better opportunities to succeed through coaching. You won't find a platform, and group of dedicated specialists, more excited to help you achieve your athletic goals!
