Get to know Coach Aidan

About Me:

I’ve played soccer since middle school on a team called the Blackhawks. In highschool I played Varsity for South Eugene Highschool as a right back. Currently I play Futsal at Rose City East in Division 3. I am a frequent goal scorer and am a playmaker for my team. I also play Futsal every Tuesday at Kings Court with lots of great players, many of which play for their college teams.

How I can help you improve your game:

I love highlighting player strengths and working to make them even stronger. While working on weaknesses is equally important, highlighting strengths is great for confidence and continued passion for the sport. I am most knowledgable on dribbling, ball control, passing, defending, decision making, and overall game sense. In highschool I played as a fullback but nowadays as a futsal player I play as an attacker.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

After some stretching and warm-up with the ball, I follow the USSF Play-Practice-Play format. In the first play session, I will create a game-like scenario to practice attributes relevant to the player’s position. For example, if the player is a defender, I might create a 1v1 scenario where the player must try to win the ball back and pass out wide into a small goal. In the practice portion, we can hone in on a particular skill within the play session. In this case, accurate long passing or tackling. After this, we will resume the play session, focusing on implementing what was practiced. This format is proven to work because practiced techniques are directly applied to realistic scenarios with game-like pressure. Not only this, game-like scenarios are more fun for players, keeping them engaged and giving them an understanding of how what they are learning is applied to the game.

Career summary and accomplishments:

I’ve been a coach with Street Soccer USA for 6 months now. It’s a great non-profit that organizes free after school practices and pickup games with elementary and middle schoolers that might not have the finances to play for a club. So far I have primarily been coaching middle schoolers, which has been deeply fulfilling. Because of this experience I’m used to coaching a wide variety of skill levels, and excel at meeting players where they are.

Best coach I ever had:

The best coach I’ve ever had was my middle school coach, coach Kenny. He was the epitome of an iron fist in a velvet glove. His ability to not put us down while pushing us to our full potential was something that made us all better, stronger players. He was one of the few soccer coaches I had that was able to make everyone on the team feel good about their play, despite their weaknesses. Some of my closest friends today are from that team, and I think in large part this is due to coach Kenny.

What athletes and parents should know about me:

I am a passionate person and player that is always curious to learn more. As a former teacher, I love connecting with younger generations. It is clear to me how important it is for younger generations to have people to look up to, and also people who will believe in them. Confidence is critical in unlocking one’s full potential. This is why I love to highlight and build upon strengths, as it subsequently builds confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.
