Sport Psychology and mental performance is about gaining control of your thoughts and emotions, and then leveraging that control to enhance your performance. Whatever your sport or performance setting may be, we will utilize science based research and practical applications to build the mental skill set necessary to reach your full capacity as a performer. I have worked with the military, Division I and Olympic hopeful athletes, as well as youth athletes. No matter your current level, we will work on the areas of your mental game that can take you to the next one. I’m certainly looking forward to working with you!

About Me:

I grew up playing competitive soccer and baseball until it came to the point I had to choose one. I stuck with soccer and am glad I did. Soccer has always been a huge love of mine and I got to experience so many cool moments and meet some incredible people through the game. In high school, I played for the Colorado Rapids Development Academy. I trained and played with my own academy team as well as trained with the first team every day of the week. I went to Florida Gulf Coast University to play Division I soccer and was named the All-Conference Freshmen Goalkeeper of the year in my first year there. While I was at FGCU I had some friends and fellow athletes experience some serious mental health struggles relating to their games. I was already interested in sport psychology then, but that solidified what I wanted to do so that I could eventually be a resource for athletes experiencing difficulties with the mental side of their performances. Following undergrad, I went to the University of Kentucky and earned a Master’s degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology. During my time at Kentucky I was able to work with some awesome athletes at Kentucky’s athletic program as well as Morehead State’s athletic program, which was about an hour down the road. Finally, my post graduate studies lead me to a job working with the military and helping the people who work and fight to protect our country develop mental skills to perform under the most extreme of pressures. Aside from work, sports still take up most of my time and interest. I play in sand volleyball leagues, softball leagues, and some would say I have an obsession with golf (that someone would be my fiancé). I am truly passionate about helping people get better at the thing they love doing, and any way I can be a part of someone’s journey to what they define as success is something that I find special.

How I can help you improve your game:

I have an understanding of how the human brain works as well as how the body follows. We train our bodies so much (and rightfully so) to be able to withstand the forces we place on it while we are performing. Often times; though, we neglect to train our minds in the same way. Our behaviors begin with thoughts and emotions that lead us to action, so we must train our thoughts and emotions to lead us to more productive outcomes. We will work on things like performance anxiety, energy expenditure and regulation, cognitive control, and much more. We won’t just talk about what those things are, but why they happen and how they improve performance. Many people view their minds as an enemy, something that stands in the way of reaching our full potential, but it doesn’t have to be that way. The work that we do will allow your mind to become your most useful tool, and maybe even become your best ally.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

A training session with me will last 50 minutes with 10 minutes spared at the end of the session for me to take notes and prepare for the next time we see each other. We will discuss different strategies we can implement for practice based on the areas of improvement we identify in your game. It will be a relaxed setting that is welcoming and driven by you, the client. Most importantly, everything we discuss will be confidential. You never have to worry about anything we talk about going outside the confines of our sessions.

Career summary and accomplishments:

Best coach I ever had:

My goalkeeper coach with the Colorado Rapids. He demanded excellence in the smallest of details, and taught me just as much about how to be a man as he did about goalkeeping.

What athletes and parents should know about me:

Athletes and parents should know that as soon as we start working together I will become your biggest fan. My job is to help you or your kids grow as athletes and as people, and I will work my hardest to help with that under the full scope of my expertise.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.

Our coaches are open to helping athletes of any age and skill level. Please message your desired coach to ensure their skillset fits your needs.

AU was created by former collegiate and professional athletes. We understand the benefits of training with a private coach. It develops discipline, boosts confidence, and provides an undeniable advantage - whether you are just learning the game or looking to earn a college scholarship. All AU coaches are required to pass a thorough onboarding process and we proudly showcase a 10% acceptance rate, so you can trust you're training with the best.

At the end of the day, our mission is to provide athletes with better opportunities to succeed through coaching. You won't find a platform, and group of dedicated specialists, more excited to help you achieve your athletic goals!
