As a former three-sport athlete at Central Dauphin High School (baseball, basketball, soccer), I developed a strong foundation in athleticism, teamwork, and discipline. My passion for baseball, where I excelled as a shortstop, led me to play collegiately at Harford Community College, sharpening my skills and competitive edge. Professionally, I began my career in Puerto Rico, showcasing my talent on an international stage, before joining the Billings Mustangs in the Pioneer League. With a deep understanding of the game and a commitment to mentoring young athletes, I’m excited to share my experience, work ethic, and enthusiasm as a baseball instructor, helping players develop their skills and love for the sport.
With my experience as a three-sport athlete at Central Dauphin High School, collegiate shortstop at Harford Community College, and professional player in Puerto Rico and with the Billings Mustangs in the Pioneer League, I bring a wealth of knowledge as a fielding specialist and above-average hitter. Here’s how I can elevate my clients’ baseball skills:
1. Mastering Fielding Fundamentals
- Technique Drills: Teach precise footwork, glove positioning, and quick transfers tailored to infield play, especially for shortstops. Use drills like ground ball reps with varied angles and speeds to mimic game situations.
- Range and Agility: Incorporate ladder drills, cone sprints, and lateral movement exercises to enhance quickness and range, critical for fielding excellence.
- Game Awareness: Coach situational awareness, such as reading hitters, anticipating plays, and positioning for double plays, to boost defensive IQ.
2. Elevating Hitting Skills
- Swing Mechanics: Break down swing fundamentals (stance, load, contact point) to improve consistency and power. Use tee work, soft toss, and live pitching to refine mechanics.
- Pitch Recognition: Train clients to identify pitch types and locations early through video analysis and live BP, helping them hit for average and make solid contact.
- Approach at the Plate: Teach a disciplined mindset, focusing on pitch selection and situational hitting (ex. hitting to the opposite field or advancing runners).
3. Building Athletic Versatility
- Draw from my multi-sport background to develop well-rounded athleticism. Use cross-training exercises (e.g., soccer-inspired footwork or basketball agility drills) to improve coordination, speed, and endurance.
- Emphasize flexibility and injury prevention through dynamic warm-ups and strength conditioning tailored to baseball demands.
4. Mental Toughness and Confidence
- Share insights from my professional career to instill resilience and focus. Teach clients how to handle failure (e.g., striking out or errors) and stay composed under pressure.
- Set achievable goals and provide positive reinforcement to build confidence, encouraging a growth mindset.
5. Personalized Development Plans
- Assess each client’s strengths and weaknesses through observation and video analysis. Create customized drills and practice plans to address specific needs, whether it’s improving glove work or boosting batting average.
- Provide feedback that’s clear, constructive, and motivating to ensure steady progress.
1. Warm-Up (10 min): Dynamic stretches and agility drills (ladder, cones) to boost coordination and prevent injury.
2. Fielding (20 min): Position-focused drills for footwork, glove work, and quick transfers, including ground/fly ball reps and situational scenarios to improve range and game awareness.
3. Hitting (20 min): Tee work, soft toss, and live BP to refine swing mechanics, pitch recognition, and situational hitting, emphasizing consistency and plate discipline.
4. Cool-Down & Debrief (10 min): Static stretching, personalized feedback, and goal setting to promote recovery and confidence.
I’ve played sports my whole life. I started at Harrisburg Christian School then moved to Central Dauohin for sports. I started 3 years for both baseball and basketball. I made first team all conference for baseball 3 times and made 2nd team all conference for basketball and soccer (only played soccer my senior year). Senior year I was voted “most athletic” for our senior class. After highschool I went to Harford Community College where I spent 2 years. After my first year is when Covid happened and that’s when they shortened the mlb draft to just a couple rounds. This hurt my chances of getting drafted. So I had to take a different approach. I went out to the Dominican Republic for a month to train with a former hitting coach. After sharpening my game against some great young talent I went to play in the Puerto Rico Independent Baseball League. That eventually paid off as we won the championship and I had gotten a call from the head coach of the Billings Mustangs. After making it to Billings I played about 7 games before injuring my knee on a ground ball up the middle. I was out the rest of the season and eventually let go the following year.
Best coach I’ve ever had was Tom Eller. He was our coach at Harford Community College for my first year. He is the one that got pro scouts out to watch our games. He made us work harder than the other teams. He eventually signed to the Orioles as a hitting coach
I’m passionate about inspiring young athletes to unlock their God-given talents and reach their highest potential. My 60-minute training sessions are tailored to each player, blending dynamic warm-ups, position-specific fielding drills, and hitting practice to build skills, confidence, and baseball IQ. With a focus on fundamentals, athleticism, and mental toughness, I create a positive, high-energy environment where players grow both on and off the field.
For athletes, I’m a coach who leads by example, pushing you to work hard and believe in yourself. For parents, I’m a mentor committed to your child’s development, providing clear feedback and personalized goals to ensure progress. Together, we’ll help your athlete discover their potential and develop a lifelong love for baseball.
- For Athletes: Expect a coach who challenges you to grow, celebrates your effort, and shares pro-level insights to elevate your game.
- For Parents: Trust in a mentor who prioritizes your child’s growth, communicates clearly, and fosters both skill and character development.
