Athletic Background

Summary of Career and Accomplishments
My soccer journey began in the recreational leagues of Elk Grove, California, where my passion for the game first took root. Recognizing my potential, I made the leap to San Juan Soccer Club, stepping into a highly competitive environment that pushed me to elevate my game. This transformative experience shaped me as a player, sharpening my technical and tactical skills. My dedication and hard work earned me the opportunity to play at the collegiate level with American River College. Competing at this stage allowed me to further refine my abilities, gain deeper insights into the game, and solidify my commitment to soccer as both a sport and a lifelong passion.
Who is the best coach you ever had and why?
The most impactful coach I had the privilege of playing under was Rich Moorhouse at Pleasant Grove High School. Our relationship wasn’t without its challenges, as we often didn’t see eye to eye—a difficult dynamic for me as a young athlete. However, navigating those tough moments taught me invaluable lessons. Over time, I came to understand that Coach Rich’s ultimate goal was to help me grow, not just as a player, but as a person. His unwavering commitment to my development pushed me to mature both on and off the field. Through his guidance, I was able to elevate my game and build the foundation for a successful playing career.
What should athletes and parents know about you?
I firmly believe that when someone truly enjoys something, they will pursue it wholeheartedly. It’s a privilege and a blessing to play a role in helping others discover their passion. My approach to coaching combines a deep understanding of the technical and physical demands required to excel in this sport, with a commitment to fostering personal growth. Beyond teaching the intricacies of the beautiful game, I strive to create an environment where players feel empowered to be themselves, embrace challenges, and grow both as athletes and individuals.

Coaching Background

Summary of Coaching Background
My coaching journey began in 2017 with the Elk Grove Soccer Club, working with the 2005 Boys team. Since then, I have expanded my experience through private coaching sessions with players spanning a wide age range, from 7 to 25 years old. Currently, I am in the process of completing my USSF D coaching license, with a clear ambition to progress further up the US Soccer coaching ladder, continuously refining my skills and knowledge to better serve my players.
How can you help someone improve their game?
I guide my players to improve by encouraging them to take ownership of their own development. By providing them with ideas, strategies, and methods to elevate their game, I empower them to push their boundaries. I challenge my players by asking thought-provoking questions, prompting them to analyze and solve the challenges they face. Ultimately, it is the player who steps onto the pitch, and the ability to think critically and adapt in real time fosters both maturity and composure. This approach not only builds stronger athletes but also cultivates confident, self-reliant individuals.
What does a typical training session look like?
An English Premier League player averages between 40 and 80 touches on the ball per match. With this in mind, every aspect of my training sessions revolves around the ball. Given the limited opportunities a player has to interact with the ball during a game, it is crucial for them to feel confident and composed when it’s at their feet. Developing this level of comfort requires intentional practice and consistent repetition. By focusing on ball mastery, I help players build the confidence and decision-making skills necessary to excel under the pressures of the game.
