I have been playing field hockey since I was in third grade! I love the sport so much, that I want young field hockey players to develop the love for the sport as much as me. I played field hockey for Owen J. Roberts High School and I was a captain my senior year. I also played indoor field hockey for X-Calibur since I was in fourth grade, which helped me mature into leadership positions on and off the field. I am now attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania as an upcoming junior, where I have decided to further my field hockey career and education. The past two years being on the team, I have started as a right back and was also asked to go up to the circle during corners to take shots. Going into my third year I was appointed by my teammates and coach to be a captain for the upcoming season. I have been through many training camps myself and have grown my knowledge and love for the game over the many years that I have been playing. I have also helped run youth camps where I taught elementary level, middle school, and high school aged players develop their skills and understanding of the game. I made it a point to share how filed hockey has positively impacted my life over the years to help create a deeper passion for these young kids and the sport as a whole. I have the knowledge to coach all ages and positions!

Being a three-sport ahtlete in high school I have had many different coaches who have all differed in coaching styles. Therefore, I know which coaching styles are most effective and how to coach in a way that will help athletes improve their game and reach their full potential. I will help athletes work through any struggles they may be facing and give tips on how to overcome those struggles by improving their understanding of the game. By doing this it will be important for athletes to understand their strengths and weaknesses and how they can use these to their advantage on the field.
The athlete would warm-up, by first starting with specific movements that the athlete incorporates in a game (shuffling, back-peddling, sprinting, and foot work). After the warm-up I would then move on to passing which would include regular passing, push passes, drives, sweeps, and aerials, meanwhile working on stopping the ball as the player receives the pass. Next, I would move on to stick work this would include the simple skills, 3-D skills, and doing the skills on the move with a defender. To end the session I would work on the defense break down and shooting with the athlete.
I have coached many camps over the years at Owen J. Roberts with all different age groups there, working on many different skills and game play. Also, I have helped coached a youth team in the spring of 2020 with some of their games, helping them with understanding the sport more and the positions they had to be in to help the team.
The best coach that I have ever had were my high school coaches, Coach Hoffman, Montes, and Coach Royer. They were the best coaches because their passion for the game encouraged me to come to practice each day knowing that I would get the opportunity to better my skills and knowledge of field hockey every day. They also created an atmosphere that allowed players to be able to try new things and work on their own skills, that contributed to the overall success of the team. Another big impact that these coaches had on me as an athlete was their ability to break down the game and explain it in a way that made sense to me. This helped me to improve on certain areas in games that I had struggled with and made it easier for me be proactive in the way I played.
I would like the athletes and parents to know that I have been through all levels of the game and understand what it is like to put in the work to get to each level. Therefore, I know the struggles that athletes face, so I am emapthetic toward the mental aspect of the game as well. Being a player who has dealt with injuries I know what it is like to have to take care of myself and what is needed me to help the team while I recovered. Overall, I have the experience and knowledge of the hardships that athletes face when involved with sports. I would also like parents and players to know that I have been through the recruiting process and have valuable advice on what it looks like and how to approach certain situations and or questions that athletes looking to be recruited might have.
