Who is the best coach you ever had and why?
My dad was the best coach that I ever had, He coached me and taught me how to be a good sport and that even with all the best lessons in the world without discipline and hard work it all means nothing. He taught me that sports does not owe anyone anything and you will only get out what you put in.
What should athletes and parents know about you?
What you should know about me is that I love golf and love teaching golf. With my past experience playing golf professionally I have a deep understanding of the golf swing and all aspects to include putting, short game, sand shots, wedge through iron play and driving as well as course management. I enjoy passing my knowledge of the games fundamentals to people of any skill level who have a passion for golf and want to improve.
Coaching Background
Summary of Coaching Background
My coaching background comes from playing sports my entire life. Back in the day as a high school varsity basketball player I coached and refereed games for the middle school kids. When I started golfing professionally I supplemented my income by giving private golf lessons to men, women and kids of all ages. I was also running our clubs group jr. golf clinics with around 20 kids. I'm a father so coaching my son while he was little in basketball, golf, and football for multiple years are memories that will always stick out to me.
How can you help someone improve their game?
Improving at anything will take some discipline and hard work as what we put in we ultimately get out, however, I will be able to create a baseline for improvement through fundamentals. From there we will be building up toward something that all golfers want.
More consistency. Please remember golf is a very difficult sport and approaching it with an upbeat mindset and positive attitude can affect your ability and the time it takes to get results.
What does a typical training session look like?
Knowing a students goals are very important so training sessions are based on age, goals and skill level. Most training sessions are very similar depending on what part of the game we where working on. Say we where working on the full swing, I would analyze their swing on the driving range. I would be watching and taking note of consistency's and habits so we can come up with a game plan to positively build on strengths and turn any weakness we have into strengths. From there we will be creating good habit's based on golf fundamentals enabling you to get better and find more enjoyment from the game.
