Who is the best coach you ever had and why?
Coach Kori Stoffregen, my collegiate coach, for never giving up in me and always seeing me for my potential, helping me to unless it.
What should athletes and parents know about you?
I am a very high-energy, social-oriented runner. I was hurt a lot in college and train athletes light on volume but heavy on high-pace work - because your best ability is your availability. Your athletes will not only improve their times, but maximize their mental head space and increase belief in themselves beyond just the sport of running.
Coaching Background
Summary of Coaching Background
I have been a private coach for friends, family, and former teammates. I joined Athletes Untapped in efforts to take coaching more seriously.
How can you help someone improve their game?
We will focus on making the 'boring stuff' fun. Form drills, plyometrics, and strength and mobility work before and after practice will keep you healthy and competing.
We will work on long speed, through fartleks and tempo. Everyone can run the 800, my specialty. I will train 400 and below runners to not fade late in races, and teach 5k runners to have quick turnover to kick hard in races.
What does a typical training session look like?
Trusting that they are working on recovery runs throughout the week, we will focus on a series of ladder workouts that break paces down to make race-pace feel comfortable. Slowly increasing pace and distance throughout the workouts. My methods are trusted and a lot of my training plans come from successful high school and collegiate workouts- perfect for athletes planning to compete and adjust to high-intensity training plans at the next level.
