Thank you for being here! My name is Ben and I believe I'd be a great asset to your (or your child's) basketball journey. I've been around the game my entire life and the knowledge I have is craving to be shared to future generations. If I can be a part of the reason that someone gains the confidence to go after their dreams, I'm in the right place! I pride myself on my ability to adapt to each individual. Not every player learns the same, so not every Coach should train the same. Player Experience: Basketball is my world. I've been playing this amazing sport since I was 7 years old, when I was being coached by Coaches just like you're here to find! I played all the way up through my schooling in Canada. Started playing competitive basketball in grade 5. Then into Jr. High, High School (where I was recognized as one of the "Great 48" players in the entire Province) heading into my senior year. From there, I went on to play 2 years in University before eventually being in talks with a Semi Professional team in New Zealand! Today, I still play when I can and continue to stay around the game.

I believe in the little things! I have an ability to focus on fine tuning the small details that make a BIG difference. Every player is different and should be treated as so. It's not always about doing "what works", but doing what works for THAT player. Though I specialize in shooting the basketball, I have worked with many different players at all positions. I believe EVERYONE needs the basics, and then we branch out to add the "advanced".
Typically the VERY first meeting, we have a conversation about goals and aspirations as a player, strengths/weaknesses, etc. Then we run some simple drills to gauge the skillset of the player. Following sessions will work in a progression-type way, always starting with the basics and adding more as it's time to learn more. Defensive drills, dribbling drills, shooting drills, passing drills, a combination drills...all will begin small and expand over time to ensure the basics are ELITE and the doors to new areas of the game open smoothly.
I've been around the game of basketball my entire life. The knowledge that I've gained needs a place to land. I am adaptable in either direction. I am patient with an understanding of how to instill a sense of urgency when needed. I was a Sports Camp Counsellor for 4 summers when I was younger, and I have many years of experience working with children and young adults of all ages. I have coaching experience as an Assistant Coach for a high school team during practices. I have 1 on 1 and group training experience and I currently teach elementary students P.E. two days a week.
My University's Assistant Coach, Sean, really opened my eyes on what it meant to be on an "advanced team". The jump from High School to University was immense. Having a Coach there to guide me along the way as a player and as a person, and to open doors that I didn't know existed, was a game changer (pun intended). I was mentored and shown what it meant to truly "put in the work" and I have used that mentality every day ever since in and out of sports.
Born and raised on the East Coast of Canada, my positive attitude and kindness reflects just that. I understand the importance of our future generations getting put on the correct path, not just in sports, but in life. Sports, in some ways, truly saved my life. If I can be a positive spark in someone's life, that's exactly what I'm going to do!

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.
Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.
Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!
We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.
Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.
Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.
The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.
Our coaches are open to helping athletes of any age and skill level. Please message your desired coach to ensure their skillset fits your needs.
