Why Train With Me?

From being told no by everyone including the coaches that I walked on for and then got a scholarship at Syracuse University, I know how to get to the top of the mountain and how to teach you to get there. It's much more than just drills. Skill habits. Mental habits. Physical habits. Habits are key. If you want to take your game to a level beyond your thought, you hit me.

Athletic Background

Summary of Career and Accomplishments
Played at Milton High. Was the MVP of the Bay State League. Averaged 24, 12 and 9 my senior year. Was a top 80 player in Southeast Mass. Walked on at Syracuse. Broke records as a walk-on. Played overseas in France, Italy and Switzerland with the team. Received a scholarship my final year of playing and played in the Final Four and in the Championship Game in 1996
Who is the best coach you ever had and why?
My assistant coach Tim O'Toole from Syracuse. He helped me keep the game fun, inspired me to go beyond my limits and was the perfect example of the power of ENERGY. He made ALL the difference for me.
What should athletes and parents know about you?
Most clients I have tend to stick around long term, because unlike a lot of private coaches, I really am specific to the client and their specific needs, in terms of how they tick, what inspires them, what holds them back, what are the beliefs / experiences that are serving them and which ones are not. The reason I believe that I'm a great coach is from all the things I DID NOT ACCOMPLISH / FAILED AT during my time at Syracuse. It's my way of giving back and seeing to it that the pitfalls and traps that most athletes fall into, they are not only aware of them, but are able to self correct. I care. Beyond a check, beyond recognition. I care.

Coaching Background

Summary of Coaching Background
Private coaching for 10+ years.
How can you help someone improve their game?
It all depends on what the client needs. But most clients want 'shooting / dribbling'. And what inevitably occurs is they have a flawed foundation, so I provide that and dig into the details that are often overlooked. Communication and honesty is key. More than anything a client will gain confidence in their own game and their ability to 'keep going'.
What does a typical training session look like?
Again, it depends on the level of the player and what they are looking for. But if someone has been with me say a month, then most of the sessions are designed to be uncomfortable, from the drills, to the sound of my voice, from the questions I ask about them about themselves. Everything. Some lessons are harder than others, but there are little traps, both mental and physical, that are set to create habits that will carry them further and further. Growth only happens in uncomfortable situations. It's my job to not only create and uncomfortable experience, but also to provide a way through it so they can experience the joy on the other side of it, which is equally as important.
