Why Train With Me?

Former Pro Basketball Player--Will take you to the next level. Good Morning, My credentials as a player and student of the game are substantial: • Played collegiately at University of Denver, a D-1 Independent at the time, in Denver, Colorado graduating in 1979. • Drafted by the Denver Nuggets in 1979. • Played professionally in Europe (Portugal) and the CBA, now referred to as the G-League (Bangor, Maine) • Won Loss record of 9-18 my junior year, 15-12 my senior year. • Averaged 25.3 points/game my senior year, still a school record, playing 4 Top 20 teams, beating one of them. • Voted 1st Team All Rocky Mountain and Player of the Year, Rocky Mountain Collegiate Athlete of the Year, team captain and team MVP in 1979. • Still hold many scoring records at the University of Denver including the single game point total of 61 points. Several other records and achievements can be viewed via the DU Website: http://www.denverpioneers.com/ As many of my accomplishments both athletic and corporate, are of public record, I can also be ‘Googled’ for additional information, should you care to look. I’ve coached basketball intermittently at Bear Creek High School, Colorado Academy High School, Englewood High School, DSST-College View, and most recently at Addenbrooke Classical Academy in the Denver, Colorado area as time would allow. I’ve coached in Arizona at Cheyenne Traditional School in Scottsdale, and am currently coaching up at Desert Mountain High School, also in Scottsdale. More importantly, as I’ve succeeded in the world of athletics, I’ve proven to be a tremendous influence in a young person’s life in teaching them the core values that are required to succeed, both on and off the court. My contact information is below. If there is an opportunity for discussion, I’d be happy to open up a conversation. Regards, Matt Teahan mattteahan@idcomm.com 602-690-6340--cell

Summary of Career and Accomplishments
Good Morning, I wanted to reach out to you in an effort to discuss the possibility of offering my services. My credentials as a player and student of the game are substantial: • Played collegiately at University of Denver, a D-1 Independent at the time, in Denver, Colorado graduating in 1979. Who is the best coach you ever had and why?
Ben Jobe.....1 of 2 pioneer Black college coaches, he and John McLendon.....who actually tutored under James Naismith, the founder of the game of basketball. Ben coached me in college. I went from playing the center postion and averaging 12 points a game my junior year to playing the '3' spot and averaging over 25 ppg and 9 rpg my senior year and leading the country in scoring the 2nd half of the year. Coaching is everything. Players can either flourish or flounder under coaches. Matt Teahan 602-690-6340
What should athletes and parents know about you?
I'm old school. Basics, fundamentals, and hard work. There are no substitutes. I learned the hard way. Figuring it out on my own. I can shorten that learning curve for a young boy or girl and can help them take their games to the next level. They don't have to try and figure it out on their own. I can show them what it takes to make the High School team, what it takes to start, excel, and even be one of the best players in the state. I can help the standout HS player get to the next level and what it takes to play D1 college basketball. Let's talk and see what i can do for you. Matt 602-690-6340

How can you help someone improve their game?
Shooting. Scoring. Basketball IQ. Court sense. Strategy. Maximizing strengths. Improving weaknesses. Court savvy. It's more important to be smart on the court than to be talented. Talented players are a dime a dozen. Smart talented players are rare. Matt Teahan 602-690-6340
What does a typical training session look like?
Depends on the student, their abilities, their skills, and their goals. Matt Teahan 602-690-6340
